Coping With Job Loss, Kendall Cleveland Seeks Food And Shelter At Oakmont Elementary School in Tennessee

No 'Golden Voice' To Fall Back On: Homeless Man Breaks Into Elementary School To Survive

Without a prospect or 'golden voice,' Kendall Cleveland had to survive somehow.

WTVF reports that after weeks of shadowy sightings and missing supplies, the phantom lodger at Oakmont Elementary School in Dickson, Tenn. was finally found.

After police detained him, Cleveland explained that he had been seeking shelter at the school after he lost his job and apartment. With nowhere else to turn, he dodged security cameras and campus personnel to sleep in empty classrooms. He took food from the school from time to time, however he never took anything else.

Captain Eddie Breeden said that he believed the man was just trying to live.

"What he done (sic) wasn't right but it speaks a lot of his character that he didn't take anything and try to sell it to make money... There's been some cold nights out there and sleeping on the floor was better than sleeping in the woods."
