Mass Animal Deaths: The Creepiest Casualties Ever (PHOTOS)

While it seems pretty creepy that thousands of dead birds are falling out of the sky, millions of dead fish are turning up, and tens of thousands of dead crabs are littering beaches, it turns out these aren't the only bizarre mass animal deaths that have occurred over the years.

In fact, compared to a doggie death bridge, exploding frogs, and the extinction of 50% of life on Earth, these past few weeks pale in comparison. We've listed a few of the creepiest mass animal deaths that have occurred throughout history. And the next time you hear of birds falling from the sky, just be grateful it's not raining frogs again.

In the past fifty years, 50 to 600 dogs have jumped over Scotland’s Overtoun Bridge and plummeted to their deaths. A few years ago, five dogs jumped in under six months. The Daily Mail wrote an article featuring reports of horrified pet owners who walked their dog over the bridge, when suddenly the dog would, without warning, leap over the bridge, falling 50 ft to the rocky bottom below. Perhaps even more disturbing, there are reports of “second timers” – of the few dogs who have survived the fall, some jumped over the same bridge again. Many theories have circulated about why dogs react this way to the bridge. Some suggest that the dogs are deliberately committing suicide, perhaps due to depression in their owners or even a supernatural force. More recent research suggests that it may be the scent of minks, an animal known to live under the bridge. Whatever the explanation may be, perhaps dog owners should simply stop walking their dogs over the Overtoun Bridge.

the deaths of those cattle could be related to a bad batch of vaccine, or to the farmer not vaccinating his cattle in an attempt to satisfy the "organic or natural" markets. the belief that not vaccinating cattle is somehow more healthy for humans who consume products harvested from animals is very misguided. did you skip your vaccines?

Do a bit more research on animal vaccination. Antibiotics absolute come through the meat and are contributing to antibiotic resistance in humans (have you heard of that??) And, yes, we DO skip our vaccines.

Are you aware that Andrew Wakefield's study linking vaccines and autism was a fraud? Wakefield and his colleagues altered facts about patients in their study. The 'study' was later renounced by 10 of its 13 authors and retracted by the medical journal Lancet.

I know how everyone wishes the former about what's happening to all of "God's creatures" that have either are dying or take their own lives (meaning theories). All this is shocking but here's what else is that I found online: http://bible.cc/zephaniah/1-3.htm

It may be worth some investigative reporting on behalf of Huffington to research how far from the gas drilling sights in Arkansas where Hydraulic Fracturing/Horizontal Drilling are taking place the dead bird calamity took place. Birds are extremely sensitive to air borne gas in the environment such as the likes of the compressor stations that emit 24/7 the methane gas from shale deposits that are being developed by the toxic process of Hydraulic Fracturing/Horizontal Drilling. The fact that the dead bird AND the thousands of dead fish discovered the same day in the Arkansas River may not be a coincidence as polluted water from 'fracking' has been known around the country to weigh in on trecherous fish kills and heavily polluted groundwater and aquifers. Get your best investigative reporters on this one. There's plenty of Hydraulic Fracturing/Horizontal Driilling in Arkansas where the residents have not had a voice reporting accidents, spills and ill health suffered by residents who have been directly affected by this toxic process.

I have not read all the comments to see if anyone has suggested this..but it seemed pretty obvious...there must be some kind of high pitched sound that compels them like a dog whistle does, this could be random and to do with the friction of things under the bridge and wind and water currents...just sayin...

Okay, so I understand everyone is saying that all this is normal. However, technology or not most previous cases have only been within a certain area, not globally. Also, it is not over a span of time either, this has all happened winthin the past week, sumthing is up! Stop telling yourself that everything is just fine and look at what is happening!!!!

Something is going on with the magnetic core of the planet, related to the increased activity on the sun. Expect quakes along the Madras fault. The Sun has a "kill shot" that is, "locked and loaded", waiting for the inner planets. 2012...........HMMMMMMMMM

The republicans have NOT taken back Congress. They are a majority in the House only. The democrats still have the Senate and Obama still has veto power.

Remember, the House sends bills to the Senate. The Senate can toss them in the trash.
