latimes.com:

Some prominent right-wing groups say they will not attend a major Republican gathering in Washington next month, objecting to the presence of gay groups and other organizations whose aims they say are incompatible with conservatism.

An estimated 10,000 people are expected to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, to hear aspiring presidential candidates and vote in one of the first straw polls of the 2012 cycle.

CPAC's membership is finally going at each other--look for a split here.
This will be a real fun thing to keep an eye on.

Conservative groups don't like gays, don't like immigrants (legal or illegal, they're all the same in their eyes), don't like non-Christians. That's a pretty big chunk of America they despise.

And there's MORE:

Evidently they have a problem with Grover Norquist; because he is married to a Kuwaiti Muslim woman who is a native Arabic speaker and  has worked in the United States, Jordan, Egypt and Qatar

The right-wing site World Net Daily and conservative columnist Frank Gaffney came up with a new reason this week to hate the Conservative Political Action Conference, arguing that it has been infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood thanks to Grover Norquist, the Republican group Muslims For America, and Ex-Bush staffer Suhail Khan.

In an article yesterday on World Net Daily called “Now look who else is infiltrating CPAC,” Gaffney “told WND that Islamism has infiltrated the American Conservative Union, the host of CPAC, in the person of Washington attorney and political activist Suhail Khan and a group called Muslims for America.”

Gaffney has been a go-to shariah “expert” on the right for some time — he even testified against a proposed mosque project in Murfreesboro, TN, and then said on CNN that the purpose of mosques “is to destroy western civilization from within.”

“What’s going on in conservative circles should give everyone real cause for concern,” Gaffney told World Net Daily. “What it bespeaks is an effort to penetrate and influence conservatives, who are the most likely and perhaps only community in America who will stand up to and ultimately help ensure the defeat of this seditious totalitarian political program.”

Funny how when 2 gay men colluded to make a phony video about ACORN, the right didn't complain.

I live in a particularly conservative portion of Canada and I have found for the most part that the freedom that conservatives defend the loudest is the freedom to act and think just like them.

I have a hard time understanding why any person would want to be included in an organization that denies their rights, and in a great deal of cases, that their sexual identity is sinning. I've heard too many times that there is no such thing as homosexuality, just people sinning.

Perhaps someone from GOProud could clarify that for me. I don't wish to be rude or insensitive, I just don't understand, and would like to.

The point of people viewing the sexuality as sinning is the worst part. Many will tell me that I shouldn't be a Democrat because so many Democratic politicians don't support gay marriage. But even if they don't (and I, sadly, feel that some are just saying that so they can say they are moderate and not liberal) support gay marriage, at least I don't feel like people are looking at me as though I am sinning. While that isn't perfect, it is such a huge improvement over those who claim that I am doing what I do just because it is evil.

It is unfortunate that we have to choose the lesser of two evils.

Republicans need to change their name to the "American Christian" party or something and leave conservatism to those who can actually define it. For liberals, the political enemy should not be those espousing true conservative values, but those who ignore the constitution when it suits their end goal of a white Christian theocracy. Believe it or not, liberals may have more in common with true conservatives than true conservatives do with modern Republicans. The country would be better off if the Democrats' opposition was from truely conservative politicians (today's libertarians).

It appears that the religious right, doesn't have the influence, that it once had. For conservatives who are unemployed, a job is more important, than who's gay.
