Ashley Turton Dead

Ashley Turton, director of congressional affairs for Progress Energy, was found dead in a burning car Monday morning in Washington, Politico reports. Turton's husband is White House deputy director of House legislative affairs, Dan Turton.

According to the Washington Post, "a preliminary investigation indicated that the car crashed into the garage of a home in the 800 block of A Street SE."

Roll Call reports that neighbors say the fire started at approximately 5:00 AM. "[Metropolitan Police Lt. Nicholas] Breul said fire officials were at the scene two minutes after neighbors dialed 911. When the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered Turton’s body inside the car."

More to come...

It was her garage. It was 4:50am when firefighters arrived having been called by neighbors.
She had supposedly left for work early. Firefighters did not know until after they put the fire out that anyone was in the car. How can that be? Wouldn't someone ask-whos's car is it and
where is she?
Wouldn't that be the very first question? Had they known they likely would have pulled the car out of the garage to get to her faster. If a fire started, what incapacitated her so completely that she couldn't climb through the back of the car to escape?

It would not be the first time an energy company was involved in something like this!

Do a google search on this. Article: Abuse of power. (Gulf Power Co.; Jake Horton)

More information would be nice. It does seem suspicious.

Worked for Progress Energy? If only there had been kind of vehicle she could have purchased that wouldn't have all those fumes, and fuel......
Am I reading it correctly, that the Deputy for House legislative affairs was married to a lobbyist??

Reading this has me waiting for the Doink-Doink sound from Law and Order. I hope we hear more, but it seems to be kept quiet.

South East DC. At night, especially in the summer months, you can hear the gunshots (mostly thugs firing in the air). It sounds like firecrackers in rapid succession. Pop pop pop.

So...it was her own garage, the car was partially in the garage. Only the front of the vehicle is burned, from the pictures, the rear of the vehicle is still very shiny and clean. Husband and children didn't hear a thing. The 13.7 billion dollar merger was going on. Congresswoman Giffords was heading some sort of bill to require new R&D from energy companies focusing on solar energy instead of nuclear. This is kind of a rambling post, but all of these things are just strange. Also, why is there no coverage of this really? Her husband works in the White House.

I agree very strange! That's a $13.7 Billion Dollar Question. I was looking for an update when I wound up here.

I find several issues related to this incident highly questionable. For one, the lack of attention it's getting in the media. I realize the Arizona tragedy is forefront but there have been some odd de..aths of political officials happening in the last few months and we have hardly hear a word about them.

Things of this nature do not happen to people like Turton by accident , people like me maybe. High time to move my ladder out of the carport if even seen as erring on the side of prudence.Better safe than .....

This reminds me of the movie The Insider about the tobacco whistleblowers. It's not the same, I know, but it all stinks of oil.

I expect this will turn out to be a carbon monoxide related death. Once the driver is incapacited by the fumes, it would make sense that the car would then be involved in a low-speed crash INSIDE the garage.

Everything about it is suspiscious. In life nothing is a coincidence, there is always a reason, the cops might break it, they might not...because of her job and her husbands, the FBI should get involved. It is an attack on our Goverment, the GOP seem to be hard at work. YES, I said the GOP, they haven't been in controll for much long and it seeks they bring hell with them, just like the confederacy. It is time to ensure that America saved the Union...YES WE CAN!
