Helen Mirren has a fantastic natural beauty (body, face, bearing) that puts the botoxed and plastic-surgeried actresses to shame time and time again. But the long sleeve black chiffon arms-and-shoulder thing clashes with her pastel tight fighting gown. Why don't the dress-makers or stylists realize when something is over-done?

Natalie Portman - I was on the fence about her dress until I saw the ugly hem. Hate it.
Michelle Williams - She is too pale and too blonde plus she always looks like a homeless waif.
Zoe Saldana - Youthful sophistication and elegance.

Carey Mulligan - Following in MW's style footsteps.
Sofia Vergara - Boring.
Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Paz Vega, Angela Lindvall - I have nothing good to say.

'This Weekend's Best-Dressed'? WTF??

I nominate myself for Best Dressed Of The Last 10 Minutes.

As I write this, I'm sitting at my kitchen table dressed in jeans by Kirkland, from Costco. My white polyester t-shirt, which I slept in, is by REI, as is my navy crew-neck fleece pullover. My shoes are black leather Keens. I have accessorized this stylish, dressed-down ensemble with a black wool knit cap. I have yet to shave, which gives my look a certain raffish je-ne-sais-quoi.

Eat your hearts out, Javier, James, Ben and Jake.
