Hillary Clinton Falls While Boarding Plane In Yemen (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/12/11 09:30 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:25 PM ET

It's reportedly been 20 years since a U.S. Secretary of State traveled to Yemen, so all eyes were definitely on Hillary Clinton as she met with Yemeni President Ali Abdallah Saleh on Tuesday to discuss security issues.

Unfortunately for Clinton, the trip will likely be memorable for another reason -- she took a very public tumble as she boarded her departing plane.

Shortly after turning to wave at the top of the steps, she tripped and fell to the floor as news cameras continued to roll. A flight attendant quickly turned the lights off as Clinton, who was unhurt, was helped to her feet.

Watch video of Clinton's stumble here:

I'm continually surprised how President Obama run up and down the steps on Air Force One, sometimes with his hands in his pockets but never holding the handrails.

Why turn the lights off after it happened? We all saw it. I don't get it. She turned the lights off after she was up and standing. Oh yeah, that made sense. I hope she didn't hurt herself.

Imagine if she had fallen the other way. She would have rolled down to the tarmac.

Oh wow, and this is newsworthy because . . . ? There are some other stories in my local mall. Let's cover those on national television. It's news, right?

I agree. Was it really necessary to report on this? Goes to the mentality of the media I suppose. As nauseating as reality TV. Making fun of people. and not in a fun way.

I hope she is okay. This job is really taking a toll on her. You can see how exhausted she is. I'd love it if she switched roles with Biden. Secretary of State is his dream job, and he knows world politics inside and out. She would be a strong partner to Obama and easily win him reelection. Probably won't happen, though. Obama wouldn't want to give the impression that he's desperate in 2012. And his approval ratings are heading upward again.

I agree.. I hated her during the campaign but she was following bad advice including some from her husband. I admire her tenacity and I would like to see her be VP and then President after Obama finishes his second term,
03:42 PM on 01/17/2011
Hated her eh? Why? Because Obama should not have been criticised? Because he is the chosen one who should be put through the political wringer like everyone else? Something tells me that's why you hated her. She gave as good as she got and that should be the way it is.

She does a very good Gerald Ford impression. Now let's see her barf on a head of state ala GHW Bush.

Search engines are a wonderful thing. It was original CNN video, picked up by Fox, at least one NBC affiliate, and the foreign press.
