Colbert Stands By His Obama/Hitler Analogy (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/14/11 01:43 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:25 PM ET

On Thursday night's "Daily Show," Jon Stewart took the media to task for its response to the Arizona shooting memorial. In contrast, "The Colbert Report" praised President Obama for giving such a touching speech at the service.

But that doesn't mean he's going to stop calling him Hitler.

Colbert lamented that Obama "had to politicize it by doing a great job," but that despite the inspirational speech, Colbert explained that you can't go back once you've called someone Hitler.

"Last night, I was moved by Hitler," Colbert said. "Turns out, Hitler is much more sensitive than we give him credit for."

If you think it sounds terrible to hear Colbert refer to the President as Hitler, just wait until you see how "The New York Post" handled Obama's uplifting speech about Gabrielle Giffords.

Not only will President Obama win easily in 2012, he will go down in history as one of the greats in our nation's history. He has been in office for just under two years, and a lot of people simply refuse to accept that the USA is in markedly better shape that it was at the end of '08 when some of the more credible economists where claiming our great recession was in fact a depression. Two years is not bad considering the GOP establishment went far an above to wreck ANY and ALL of Obama's fine work. President Obama's historic speech in Tucson only affirms what a class act this man really is and not matter how hard some so-called American's try, Obama WILL NOT be derailed by a bunch of petty and childish (but damning) vandals of what makes the USA such a great nation..

The right's Obama-_Hitler meme is completely ridiculous. The _Hitleresque politicians (and there are more than a few in this country, not all of them male) are all on the right. _Nazism is nothing but an _extreme right-wing ideology....

Obama as Hitler? Pick your time frame and maybe a good fit. Except maybe you reverse some things and Obama gives us a amercian economic holocasut by bailing the megabankers and leaving the rest of the country in foreclosure to them. Interesting that most of the emgabanks are jewish. Ana,ogies are slippery things.

Colbert aptly makes fun of the Obama/Hitler reference, and yet here you are, earnestly believing it so. Pathetic.

Please tell me this is supposed to be ironic sarcasm that just doesn't translate well without the body language clues.

Given that the Post is well-known to be a right-wing _rag, I'm sure the juxtaposition of _Sting and Gifford's recovery was a deliberate tactic for downplaying the latter and even not taking it seriously....

See how the Republicans are saving America by preventing President Obama from doing a good job for America and Americans. They are stopping him from doing good so he won't be like Hitler. Awesome huh?

"He had to politicize it by doing a great job."

That pretty much covers the rationale behind all of the right_wing faux anger, regarding the Tuscon memorial and the President's speech.
