Mark Zuckerberg Named One Of 2010's Worst Dressed Celebrities (PHOTOS)

Esquires Worst Dressed 2010

Esquire magazine has released its "2010 Celebrity Style Hall of Shame" list, which names the year's 10 least-dapper men. This list of unfortunately dressed celebs includes eight performers, one political pundit and one tech titan. That's right, there's a geek on the list.

So which techie was awarded this dubious distinction? None other than TIME magazine's "Person of the Year," the founder and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg.

Despite Zuck's status as one of the richest techies in America, he's never been one to flaunt his wealth. He has publicly stated that he rents his Palo Alto home and he is known for giving press conferences in sneakers, jeans and a T-shirt (à la Steve Jobs).

Perhaps hoping to keep him off next year's list, Esquire offered Zuckerberg some wardrobe advice:

[N]o matter how much money you have or how many people's secrets you hold in your digital palm, you cannot show up to a black-tie event in a t-shirt and jeans and expect to be taken seriously. [...] You just gave a hundred million to Newark's schools. Would it kill you to throw a couple thousand to, say, Zegna for a couple of nice suits?

To view a sample of Zuck's infamous threads, check out the slideshow (below). Then, check out Esquire's complete 2010 Celebrity Style Hall of Shame, which includes other questionable dressers, such as Robert Pattinson, Russell Brand and Rush Limbaugh. And take a look through our slideshow of Steve Jobs's uber-casual business attire and how his signature style has evolved over the years.

Techies don't care how they look. We should be grateful that they remember to put their underwear on under their clothing and not on top.

They don't. There are too many thoughts churning in their heads.

I wish the CS-guru in my lab would step up his grooming game a bit. Dude picked his earwax and ate it, in front of us all today.

Of all the pieces of news that have discussed Facebook and/or its owner, to give a rip about his choice in clothing is supposed to take precedence now?!  He can wear what he wants.  As free individuals, that's by and large a right.

More articles discussing his company would be preferable, given the noted history of said company.

Honestly, if you are somebody worth and/or making 1,000,000,000 or more a year...do you really care what opinion is given by somebody that makes 40,000 to 120,000 a year.

See...people who HAVE 1,000,000,000 or more a year, are people who had the intelligence, creativity and ambition to get it. 40,000 to 120,000 people? Work for someone else.

Guess the fox couldn't get the grapes eh?

Oh...and some women, due to INTELLIGENCE, creativity and ambition find ways to become successful and independant. They don't need to sleep with the H.S. quaterback to become popular, or become a pet of an old rich man to start their own business.

Agreed.

Most of us are just customers to the system he provided.  (until we lose our jobs and find out employers make false presumptions on us by looking at our facebook profiles, of course... but I digress.)  Why listen to customers?

Also, there are enough articles out there suggesting Facebook was started under less-than-ethical means, never mind the privacy policies, double standards, tons of ads (I thought people hated ads), and everything else.

Facebook is best left avoided.

I'm pretty sure that Zuckerberg has no expectation that Vanity Fair or Esquire will take hum seriously. I'd be startled if he gave a proverbial what they think of him.

Hello?
He has NO ONE to impress...for the rest of his life.
Take him seriously?
Bernie Madoff was VERY dapper...fat lot of good that did him.
A few weeks ago, I said if i had Oprah's power and money I would go naked...all the time.
Maybe he's eccentric.
Maybe he doesn't care.
Or maybe he owns his money, rather than the other way around.

Whatever those clothes cost, he looks unattractively sloppy. He looks like you can almost smell his B.O. through the webpage.

Yes, I think the title is well deserved and I really saw him in a suit top over denim pants in one press coverage. Well, apparently, money for Zuckerberg didn't employ this "dress for success" motto. Who needs it anyway when he has all the billions in the world.

But on the other hand, it may be also good to know his ways in dressing has not changed him a bit even with his money. So, a plus and minus side.

Haha, it doesn't matter! He's just being who he is! Though, I personally would like to see what he'd look like with a make over... but whatever.

Smells like sour grapes to me, Esquire. How dare he be both a million+aire and comfortable!

People like these guys don't spend money on clothes. How can you get rich when you're worrying about when the next Jordans are coming out? Not to mention I have never known nerds to care about clothes.
