First Posted: 01/14/11 10:55 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:25 PM ET

Ricky Gervais was on "Conan" Thursday night to talk about reprising his role as host of the
Golden Globes this Sunday. If you were wondering what kind of material Gervais is going with this second time around, we can tell you one joke he's definitely not doing. Watch the clip below to hear the Hitler-inspired joke (yes, Hitler) that was deemed too controversial by the Golden Globes. You can also watch the rest of the interview here.

All those over paid, self important actors really do take themselves to seriously. It was the best GG ever.....get over it Hollywood!

Sincerely doubt he will be asked to host again. Too bad though cause he made a boring self congratulatory snooze fest entertaining.

He didn't say anything that most of America wasn't already thinking. I live in Hollywood, but I have to say these award shows, where very rich and powerful actors congratulate each other on being rich and powerful, are insulting to the general populace. It's a cliche, but where is the golden globe for best teacher, best firefighter, etc. These people NEVER hear anything negative about themselves, they're surrounded by yes men and people who tell them nothing but how "wonderful" they are. At least it didn't get political. Nothing drives me crazier --and I don't care which side of the aisle they're from -- than someone without a high school degree and can do nothing but act, assume to be an expert on foreign policy and everything else because they're well... "wonderful."

The Golden Globe is given by the Foreign Press, so you would have to look for somebody else to honor the teachers, firefighters, etc.
The best thing is not to watch. As long as they get good ratings it is going to continue.

Ricky said in a recent interview that he didn't know why he was asked backed to host the 2010 GGs. He said that he'd have to do something to avoid being asked to host again. Seems that he may have succeeded in that. I certainly didn't enjoy his lack of wit and sensibility this year. I can't imagine many people were entertained. There is enough meanness going around in many other circles. The Golden Globes certainly wasn't the place for it.

Hahahaha ... NOT!
But Eddie Izzard would be pearls before swine, so I reckon Mr. Gervais is good enough for you.

I love the fact that many posters find Gervais's comments objectionable but they don't object to those proffered by their favorite political pundits many of which are in far poorer taste. Not naming any names mind you but you know who you are ...

He is such a breath of fresh hot air, compared to the usual routine of the GG's. http://newsy1.wordpress.com

And had he said this, he probably wouldn't have been banned from hosting.. these celebs can't take a funny attack on them. It's all in good fun, he's a comedian for gosh sake!

If he had done that, people would've gotten all upset and all we would have heard about after the GG was Ricky Gervais' monologue.. Whew. Close call.
