'Toddlers & Tiaras' Mom Forces 5-Year-Old To Get Eyebrows Waxed (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/14/2011 12:01 pm Updated: 08/29/2011 7:05 pm

We've always been too terrified to tune into TLC's "Toddlers & Tiaras" and the following clip is a perfect illustration as to why.

On a recent episode, a pageant mother forces her wailing and trembling five-year-old daughter to get her eyebrows waxed, even though the little girl was clearly traumatized from once having her skin ripped off during the beauty procedure.

To be honest, this video just makes us love our moms even more.

That show is just one more reminder that the ONLY thing you don't need a test, permit, degree, certification or mental evaluation for is having a kid.

The kid should have bit one--or both--of them. That would teach 'em.

I believe most of the pageant moms put their daughters in these pageants because they are missing something in their own lives. All they are teaching their daughters is that what you look like is all that is important. If they believe their daughters are so beautiful, why the false teeth, hair, tans, makeup and nails. Little girls should look like little girls, missing teeth and all, not like miniature showgirls like you would see in Vegas. Most of the girls act like spoiled brats and the moms see no problem with that. This mom that forces her 5yo to have her eyebrows waxed should have hot wax poured all over her and have it removed very slowly.

These mothers need therapy. Children should not be paraded around and made to feel that their looks are the most valued thing by their mothers. The whole thing is nothing short of sick.

I don't understand the appeal of beauty pageants. Little girls in skimpy outfits, fake hair, fake nails, tans, and pounds of make up. That is just not right.

why would this supposed 'professional' waxer even wax a 5 year old????!?!!!

Seriously? Why do people even watch this garbage? It IS Child Abuse, Forcing children to do something against their will, to only fulfill the will of their Fat, under accomplished, under educated over bearing WACKJOB parents. IS CHILD ABUSE! What is next? Kiddie Porn and Parental Consent? Ugh

There is NO point to these contests! This should be illegal and those mothers need severe help...And chances are some kids are going to need therapy too.

hmmm... hold her down and just rip it off? Has this person been seen by a mental health professional recently? Has child services been called? Is the writer of this article going to follow up on any attempts made to hold the parent or the soulless producers of this really sick show accountable for the eye garbage?

This is HORRIFYING! It's not the actual waxing that disturbs me but it's the obvious terror this child is experiencing through the process. I cannot believe her mother thinks frightening her child this much was worth it. You can't even see what kind of condition her eyebrows are on a stage. She pointlessly freaked her own kid out in the name of superficial vanity.

This is child abuse. I don't care what you say. Beauty pageant or not. If you can't rely on a child's natural beauty then you don't deserve to have children. I hope someone takes your child and gives her a loving home with parents that won't give her mental scarring. She is a beautiful little girl who doesn't deserve that. You are a horrible person.

Sexualizing and torturing young girls in this way -- by their parents no less -- is CHILD ABUSE Period! I don't understand why states have allowed this to go on and not charge the parents and pagaent organizers with the appropriate CRIME.

I don't watch TLC anymore based strictly on principle. I am glad. Not only is this absurd, but to put someone on tv and make them a star for doing this to a small child? Unforgivable
