Kate Middleton Picks Wedding Dress Designer: Report

First Posted: 01/16/2011 10:35 am Updated: 05/25/2011 6:25 pm

Kate Middleton has reportedly picked her wedding dress designer, according to People.com. A source told the site that the couturier has been chosen, but the royal couple is keeping their lips sealed.

Of course, that hasn't stopped, well, anyone from speculating about who's tasked with the lucky job. People writes:

Bruce Oldfield's name re-entered the mix because Kate's mom Carole and her sister Pippa were spotted heading to his store in the swanky Knightsbridge area of London. Photos published in the U.K.'s News of the World show mother and daughter strolling in the street and visiting Oldfield's store after lunching at San Lorenzo restaurant. The paper said the shopping trip gave "a big hint he's been picked to design the royal wedding dress." But no one is confirming.

Oldfield was the bookies' favorite, however, HuffPost's royal correspondent Yvonne Yorke wasn't convinced, guessing Kate would go for "a young, 'little-known', British designer." Guess we'll all just have to wait until April 29...and keep on guessing until then.

What do you think?

Quick Poll

Is Bruce Oldfield designing Kate's dress?

YES! Hello -- her family was spotting at the store.

NO! Just a coincidence.

Unsure.

I never liked Bruce Oddfield, his designs are ugly, even dianas dresses designed by him I wasn't "wow'd"..very plain and she was stunning in everything.

I can't wait for this wedding; it truly is the wedding of the century! I'm excited to see the bride's dress and buy one of those commemorative dolls like these http://www.princesskateweddingdoll.com

How is this the wedding of the century? They are keeping it small, which is probably good for them..

Bruce Oldfield is too, well, old - in design terms - for a pretty 20-something. She has plenty of time after producing her "heir and a spare" to start dressing like a frumpy old lady.

Can't wait to see who is going to paint her royal toes and clean her royal feet.
All part of the continuing royal scam for the rubes with empty lives.

of course the dress designer's name is being kept secret. can you imagine what would happen if the name became public. the paps would be hounding that person for any hints about the dress. this will be the dress of the year.

the wedding is just a 3 months away, if they havent start on it yet, i gather it wont be a very fancy, elaborate frock.

I think she should do the show "Say Yes To The Dress"....... Bring an entire group with her, future Mother In Law and all. What a hoot that show would be.

does it really matter? all it means is that knock offs will be on sale as soon as the designers get a proper look at the dress on april 29th. this always happens. i rememebr living in london and seeing the knock offs of diana and fergie's gown. they looked nothing like the originals.
that said, i am flying over to london during wedding week to see this in person. i enjoyed diana and fergies weddings immensley, and cannot wait to see this one. unfortunately i don't think it will have the same pomp & pageantry as the other two, not with the current economic crisis, which is a shame

The British have a way with words and it's vastly different than ours. When shopping for a flat to let (apartment to rent) in London, another woman, a young Englishwoman, was viewing the same flat I was and I kept hearing her say things were "just too." Just too what? Too cold, too hot, too flowery? I even wondered if she knew how to complete a sentence! btw: It's a derisive term!

Thank you! I wondered about that too. One phrase that has always turned my head , was hospital. Here its "She is in the hospital" or there its "She is in hospital"--kinda like its a state of mind.

I think it will be Bruce Oldfield, who afterall designed some of Diana's most memorable evening dresses. If not, then it should be Issa, one of Kate's favorites, as well as the designer of her gorgeous blue engagement dress.
