Brenda Strong Divorce: Another 'Desperate Housewives' Split

Eva Longoria isn't the only "Desperate Housewife" getting a divorce. Actress Brenda Strong, who plays deceased narrator Mary Alice Young on the show, filed for divorce late last week from Tom Henri, her husband of 22 years.

The Desperate Housewives star cited irreconcilable differences as the cause for the split. She is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the couple's teenage son.

Strong is only the latest "Desperate Housewife" to file for divorce. Longoria split from basketball husband Tony Parker in November, after discovering he had exchanged text messages with a former teammate's wife. Co-star Terri Hatcher, who got divorced in 2003, is still working out custody issues with her ex-husband Jon Tenney.

Will any other "Housewives" file for divorce this year?

I don't understand divorces in marriages that have lasted longer thn 20 years. Marriage has become a joke in this country.

Teri Hatcher has been divorced since 2003 and she still hasn't worked out custody issues with her ex. Soon the kid will be an adult, and they can stop fighting over her.

OOOOOOO.K. Two of the actors get divorced, and this is considered a trend or some big story?

Do you guys think that when a woman becomes successful, the possibility of divorce is high? Not to say that the woman or the man is at fault.

I feel you on that samilli3, it seems like a trend with the so called "successful woman".

Divorce is the "in" thing in Hollywood (and elsewhere). HuffPo has a entire tab dedicated to the fad.

Uuuuuh, it's not the show. It's the liberal lifestyle. Hearts are hard things to shield from blatant reality. That's why love triangles usually end up short-lived as compared to monogamous relationships. But, some people have to try it out for themselves.

Hate to break it to you, but nearly all polygamists are ultra-conservative. For starters, if you want to make the claim that infidelity is somehow tied to the "liberal-conservative" continuum, you need evidence. That said, Strong's divorce has nothing to do with infidelity.

Are you talking about religion or politics? I thought the topic was infidelity in Hollywood. A polygamist isn't exhibiting infidelity. All parties know the other exists. So again, is this a discussion about divorce and loose women/men? Or is it a discussion about plural marriages being religiously based (like in Utah, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, etc.)?

As far as Hollywood goes, I think it is more about the narcissism there.
Glack, I think your assertion about 'liberal' deserves comment. Please read this link,

http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_dira.htm

about the well published study that "born agains" have the highest divorce rate and agnositics/athiests the lowest. Jews, who tend to be categorized as liberal are pretty high, too. So, what is liberal? What is conservative? Statements like you have made reveal a shallow mindset. Google 'divorce rates religion' and see what is out there. Turns out conservative Red states have a higher divorce rate than the Blue states.

It may be that conservatives have high standards/ideals (or are simply rigid) which if followed would reduce divorce rate. At the same time, such an attitude could make a person less tolerant of a partners differences or growth over time, resulting in a higher divorce rate.

Glack, my hope for you is that you do a little reading on this and will develop a deeper understanding of how people are and not judge by their 'surface' beliefs or a simple measuring stick like liberal/conservative. Of course, the statement, by its very nature reveals me to be, as least in one sense .... liberal.

Hollywood couples aren't capable of staying together. It's not in their DNA.

Stop with the dramatics! Curse? If they're cursed, so is half of the country's married population!

I agree! The only curse these women deal with is having to work with ludicrous story-lines and over-the-top plot twists that leave most of us gob-smacked.

Sad but hardly a curse.

However, if Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy ever tank, feel free to freak out!

What about the other side? How about the MEN on the show? No one seems to talk about THEIR marriages.

(Not that I would be interested)

Well the main characters are women.
