Maria Sharapova's 'Stalker' Shows Up At Australian Open

'Stalker' Freaks Out Maria Sharapova

After Maria Sharapova won her first round match at the 2011 Australian Open against Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn, a "stalker" showed up at the postgame media conference and freaked her out.

James McOnie, a New Zealand journalist, appeared holding a sign reading "I am not a stalker." He now faces possible censure from Australian Open officials.

"You're the guy from New Zealand, huh? Oh, God, you're stalking me!" Sharapova responded after recognizing McOnie, according to Fox Sports.

The journalist replied, saying that "it's not stalking if you love someone."

McOnie reportedly started showing up at Sharapova's press conferences earlier this month and asked strange questions "like did she need a personal shopper because he had impeccable taste."
