The Art Of Restraint: 'Rules Of Engagement' Group Exhibit On View In NYC

First Posted: 01/18/11 03:44 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:25 PM ET

WHO: Artists Katarina Burin, Saul Chernick, Ridley Howard, Sarah Malakoff, Javier Piñón, Andrei Roiter, Lisa Sanditz, Ryan Schneider. Curated by David Coggins

WHAT: 'Rules of Engagement' Group Exhibit

WHEN: January 14th through February 13th (weekdays by appointment)

WHERE: Allan Nederpelt Gallery
60 Freeman Street
Brooklyn, NY 11222

WHY: Group shows are often hit or miss - either one artist steals the show or there are too many competing for attention that you miss each individual creation. But this David Coggins-curated exhibit promises that "the Allan Nederpelt space is large (5000 square feet) and each artist has their own wall with small works grouped together." Thus, the viewer is really able to step into the pieces that each artist created for this show. A number of the artists represented have rarely shown on our shores, as well, so seeing them in this context (smack next to NY-based artists and internationals alike) is particularly enticing.
