I noticed there are no representatives from any human rights group. I guess Obama has got to keep that Chinese money flowing into the US.

As a HUFF POST user, I'm having some issues with the Editor of Huff Post, Willow Bay attending this dinner.

Willow Bay has a duty to scrupulously avoid any appearance of impropiety, and nibbling on poached Lobster with Kissenger is not what I want to see from the editor of a progressive blog, such as HUFF POST.

I am suprised that HUFF POST has not said anything about her attendence or the policy regarding editorail staff fraternizing with the rich and powerful.

Ms. Bay is not only the Senior Editor, she is also an investor and lets make no bones about it, Huff Post is a FOR PROFIT entity. Her marriage to Mr. Iger provides her with a level of intimate access to many events that other "journalists" could never dream of achieving, for example, the annual Allen & Co. Media gathering.

Having said that, I am yet to see either Mr. Iger or Ms. Bay lower their integrity level by leveraging the advantages of their marriage. I think Mr. Iger is a world class CEO and although I believe Ms. Bay to be a very poor interviewer (she often looks as if she has an awful headache or is straining to read an auto cue) I do not think she trades on her access.

Most news gathering organizations int his coutnry are for for profit, but irregardless, the appearance of impropiety speaks to nuetraility and HUFF POST shoudl not remain silent.

I agree that access is legimate journalistic reason for her to be in attendence, but most organizations have policies about such events.

Why in the world would Goldman Sachs be invited to a state dinner? I see quite a few big business execs and that certainly alerts my sensitive antennae.

that was the one invite that jumped out at me also

White House ought to invite the unemployed to some state dinners to send a message...
01:07 AM on 01/20/2011
Why was Anna Wintour even invited? Am I missing something here? Besides ruining US Vogue and making it the most boring Vogue in the world... what does she do? To be invited at a state dinner... I need to look into this more and come up with answers.

I'm wondering where exactly you are intending to 'look this up'? And why shouldn't she be invited - there seemed to be a number of people invited not from the political arena (just as there always are). I'm touchy about this because Shelby Bryan is my cousin and he has been a Democratic Party supporter for a long time.
Let me know what answers you come up with.

I'm certain it's just an oversight that I was overlooked; doubtless, I will get an apology promptly tomorrow. The real aggravation is that somehow Wendy Murdoch!!!!! got on that list (a separate meow is that Streisand looked a tad potty, but I do like her---
