Seriously. Couldn't someone take a little time and post a photo of the author here instead of a flag?

I had the pleasure and the honor of meeting John Ross, shortly before his final trip to Mexico. I also got to see him perform at 2 poetry readings in San Francisco. He was an extraordinary man, who will be missed.
Btw, 'PartyPartyParty,' I'm not surprised that there haven't been many comments. Since, this post is in the books section, which I don't think gets as much traffic as other parts of the site. Personally, I think this should article should be cross posted on the front page. John Ross may not be a household name, but both his journalism and his poetry were major achievements.

I find it immensly troubling -- and telling -- that no one has commented on John Ross' passing.

John Ross was a true patriot and rabble rouser.  The working stiff had no better friend than John Ross.  He was a poetic journalist, a journalistic poet, and he called it as he saw it.

R.I.P., you wonderful cuss, you.
