The season premiere ratings of "American Idol" were down sharply from last year's.
The tenth season opener, which saw the debut of the show's new Simon Cowell-less judging team, drew 26.1 million viewers--a 13% drop from the ninth season premiere in 2010, which drew 29.7 million viewers. Even worse, the ratings in the coveted 18-49 demographic were down 18%. The ratings in the demo are the lowest ever for an "Idol" premiere.
Even so, "Idol" still won the overall ratings race for the night.
