I always eat a very healthy breakfast.

This morning I made flax meal pancakes with lots of butter and sugar free syrup, 2 slices of Trader Joes Applewood Smoked Bacon (no preservatives), and an egg fried in the bacon fat. I also had a cup of coffee with heavy whipping cream and a teaspoon of coconut oil.

I never used to eat breakfast but now that I'm on a low-carb way of eating I always eat something with protein, eggs and lots of fat in the morning -- I don't get hungry for several hours. This is how I have lost 40 pounds, lowered my blood pressure, completely changed my cholesterol profile, and am no longer pre-diabetic. The health benefits are downright miraculous.

Tomorrow: veggie omelet with cheese, sausage, flax meal muffin with pecans and blueberries.

So do you only eat your carbs in the morning?

Breakfast should be healthy, not hefty! I did not eat breakfast when I weighed 385 lbs. It is no coincidence that since eating a small but healthy breakfast every day I lost 220 lbs and continue to maintain the weight loss one breakfast at a time. Also, there is a huge nutritional difference between poached eggs, canadian bacon and a cup of fruit compared to a glass of whole milk with Hershey Syrup and a Pillsbury Toaster Strudel! Size is not the only thing to consider - look at what you are eating.

Maybe calories are not the best measure.

I'd like to see such a study include grams macronutrients (protein/fat/cabohydrates).

Many don't have a fast to break because they snack a lot the night before. Eatiung three meals a day with no snacks doesn't work for some, but it works for me.
I truely enjoy my breakfast, lunch and dinner.
At 5'2"", 105 pounds, it works for me.

Breast feeding may be the key to both overweight and underweight problems.
My idea is that the lack of at least one year of breast feeding for infants is causing both overweight and underweight problems across the world.

I suggest that weaning sets up a food in and waste out pattern - probably in the ENS, Enteric Nervous System, that subconsciously programs us for our lives. If there is not enough breast milk before that weaning period - the infant will be 'hungry' from then on. He will move toward food and become overweight.
If the weaning is too soon such that the child's digestion system can't handle the new non-breast milk, solids, then the child will always be 'too full' (of food he can't yet digest) from then on. He will move away from food and become underweight.

The rates now for children being breast fed for 1 year are almost at 0%
Time to promote one year of breast feeding for all mothers in all countries.

This should be easy to test. Those with weight problems should be infants that were NOT breast fed for one year.

Those without weight problems should be infants that were breast fed for at least one year.
"Before 1900, most mothers breastfed their infants. Breastfeeding rates declined sharply worldwide after 1920, when evaporated cow's milk and infant formula became widely available. These were promoted as being more convenient for mothers and more nutritious than human milk." - faqs.org
