Commuting around here is horrid. What's worse is having roadwork in progress during the worst of drive time.

Taking Amtrak into Union Station is much easier than driving through Washington in rush hour, and the upgrade to business class isn't a lot. The Metro ride to the Capitol or L'Enfant Plaza is just a few minutes. But the trains can be very crowded.

I hope the lawmakers of both parties see the need for expanded rail service -- not just for their own need, but to cut down on air travel, automobile traffic and pollution. Dismantling America's railroads was one of the biggest mistakes this country ever made.

Totally agree, I live in DC and thought it was a hassel to ride the Metro into work. When I decided to drive one day, boy that was the biggest mistake ever. They should expand not only the rails but the Metro to reach more suburbs.
