Colbert 'Deeply Offended' By Rush Limbaugh's Chinese Impression (VIDEO)

It's not often that you catch Stephen Colbert disagreeing with the man with the golden mic, but on Thursday night's "Report," Colbert said he was 'deeply offended' by something Rush Limbaugh did recently -- but not for the reasons you'd think.

Firstly, why did the coverage of visiting Chinese president Hu Jintao's speech upset "talk radio's #1 man dumpling"? Limbaugh said he was frustrated because Jintao wasn't translated in real time, saying "I can't comprehend anybody understanding it."

"Who on Earth can understand that Kung Pow jibber-jabber?" Colbert said. "Off the top of my head I can only think of 1.5 billion people."

But when Limbaugh started doing an offensive, jibberish impression of the Chinese President, Colbert really got offended. It's not that Colbert is concerned about offending Chinese people, but realized Limbaugh's impression was a "cheap insensitive rip-off" of Colbert's own ridiculous Chinese impression, "Ching Chong Ding Dong."

What struck me about this is the similarity to the black white supremacist sketch from Dave Chapelle where his character mocked asians in exactly the same fassion that Rush delighted his audience with his comedic wit. Of course, Chapelle's character got laughs by mocking the bigotry inherent in jokes like these and Rush got laughs by being a bigot. It's always fun when people go out of their way to make themselves a sterotype.

Those were funny clips of Rush. The crowd certainly enjoyed it when he spoke the language. The only one which might have been offensive to me was the Parkinson's comments. It cut into 'he is exagerating it'. Tough one for me, but when he flailed around I laughed, it was funny.. even though my father just passed in the past 3 weeks from complications of advanced parkinsons which he has had for nearly 10 yrs.

I laughed when I saw the Rush-Chinese clips - although I hope for my own sake that there was at least a modicum of incredulity. I agree.... nothing funny about his mimicry of the effects of Parkinson's.

Carol Jean below makes my point. Cartman doing that is funny because everyone knows Cartman is a bigotted little batturd. Rush doing that means the same thing, but he demands we call it protected speech filled with rightousness. Shut up, Cartman or we'll show them the photo of you and Butter's butterfinger.
