Rudy Giuliani Says He's 'More Likely' To Run In 2012 If Sarah Palin Does: 'I Can Show A Contrast'

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani gave a little more insight Friday into his calculations regarding a second run at the presidency in 2012, saying he'd be more likely the enter the race if Sarah Palin did, too.

"The more Republicans in which I can show a contrast, probably the better chance, the better chance that I have," Giuliani told CNN's Piers Morgan in an interview set to air Monday at 9 p.m.

"'My one chance, if I have a chance, is that I'm considered a moderate," Giuliani added, according to a tweet from Morgan, suggesting that Palin's less compromising conservatism might turn off some Republicans looking for a more centrist presidential candidate.

But if he does run, Giuliani says he would concentrate on winning Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, sites of the first presidential nominating contests. In 2008 Giuliani focused his resources in Florida, a strategy that that led to the demise of his run after he finished third in the state's primary.

On Thursday, Giuliani told CNBC's Larry Kudlow that the door was "absolutely" open to another shot at the White House in 2012.

"I will take a look at 2012. It's really a question of, can I play a useful role? Would I have a chance of getting the nomination?" Giuliani said. "Those are things that I'll have to evaluate as the year goes along."

She'll run to be a "voice" and an influence peddler.

Sarah Palin can make ALL of her republican opponents look more competent and more Presidential. The serious GOP contenders will be Governor-types that desperately want Sarah Palin on stage to measure themselves against.

Rudy knows he isn't a contender. He's just having fun talking about being a New York centrist with her in the race. If he runs, it will be to regain some influence and currency. The recycle hot air coming from Pain could help him do just that.

The more Republican candidates the better. A bigger field improves Rudy's chances of getting a VP shot and at least four years more on the public payroll and then a nice pension. He may want to explain why it was Jon Stewart and not him, "the hero mayor of 911", who shamed the GOP into passing the aid to the First Responders after nine years of standard GOP obstruction.
