Mel Gibson's New Agent Speaks Out (VIDEO)

Now that we're living in a post-Ricky Gervais' opening monologue at the Golden Globes world, it's important that we occasionally take a step back and remember a simpler time. For example, remember when Hollywood was young, fresh-faced and unaware of the terror that could be wrought by that pudgy British comedian we so loved on the prequel to America's 'The Office'? You know, all the way back in 2010? When Gervais poked fun at fellow countryman Paul McCartney's divorce, we were aghast. When he suggested that Colin Farrell was a stereotypical drunk, swearing Irishman, we couldn't believe it.

And when he callously brought up Mel Gibson's drunk-driving, racial epithet-flinging rampage...well, that we thought was kind of funny.

Mel Gibson was fair game a year ago and he still is today. That's as it should be. But one wonders why there seems to be no movement calling for his redemption. Don't we love a reformed star just as much as we love one that's crashing and burning? President Obama praised the return of Michael "I still don't get what's wrong with dog fighting, but whatever" Vick as if it were the story of the prodigal son writ large. But where are Mel's true believers? Where are his apologists?
