Michael Musto Tells Calvin Klein: 'Go Back In The Closet'

Calvin Klein's 21st birthday bash for possible boyfriend Nick Gruber went off without a hitch on Friday night, Page Six reports, as guests like Anna Wintour, Donna Karan, Daphne Guinness, Vera Wang and Evan Lysacek got down at the "Studio 54-meets-New Year's Eve dinner party at Indochine, stocked with 4,500 balloons, 100 models and a cake with 21 sparklers on top."

One attendee told the gossip column, "It was so hot inside, we had to open the doors to the outside for air and have the waiters pass iced tequila shots." Sounds super classy. But one person who likely wasn't there? Outspoken Village Voice columnist Michael Musto.

On Friday, Musto published a short column entitled, "Calvin Klein, Go Back In The Closet!" accusing the former designer of embarrassing the entire gay community.

Musto wrote, "You were never really that much of a gay hero in the first place," adding, "Now you've hooked up with that almost-21-year-old ex-porn star, Nick Gruber, and you're fawning over him as if this were real love and not a massive late-life crisis being acted out for the horrified masses." Musto finishes off with, "Calvin, you went from deeply closeted to being more open about your shame-based antics, and I don't know what's worse."

Can't we all just get along? And can we please get two tickets to next year's party?

I'm sorry but this is sooo creepy. I'm sure all those society friends are talking behind his back even as they drink his champagne. What a sad life he's living...when he could be rolling up his sleeves, working for charitable causes, giving away lots of money he will never live long enough to spend and looking for someone closer Yo his own age.

Calvin Klein = American Caligula of the Fashionable Elite. They came to pay homage and worship at the throne of a nearly 70 year old man's love or love of sex with a porno-riffic 21 year old (that is if he really truly 21) but according to all these reports in Avenue Insider, The Huffington Post and Village Voice, I could not figure out whether this was "Society News" or a scene out of Bob Guccione's CALIGULA. Anyhow, I wish Calvin Caligula and his love child a great year and feel bad that Michael Musto can't get any.

Musto reminds me of Perez Hilton. Wounded by unpopularity and ugliness during his formative years, he savages the celebrities that represent the popular kids that rejected and abused him in high school. His criticism of CK reveals more about Musto than it does about CK.

Musto is like a character from Boys in the Band. He's unhappy with himself, so he tries to make everyone else unhappy with criticisms and put downs. This is a case of jealosy and envy masquerading as moral indignation. Like Klein, Musto would have a cute young lover if he were able.

I don't know what the truth of Musto's column is - the article says that he thinks Klein is an embarrassment to the gay community. I don't think Klein's dating a young man is any more embarrassing than the trophy wives and girlfriends of straight businessmen. The line about the massive late-life crisis begin acted out for horrified masses is just catty and mean. Someone give Musto a saucer of milk - kitty has claws : ) Let Klein enjoy his hot young boyfriend - I say "Good for him".
