Miriam Smith Killed Dog For Chewing On Bible: Nephew's Pit Bull Hanged From Tree, Burned To Death

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities have charged a South Carolina woman with felony animal cruelty, saying she hanged her nephew's pit bull from a tree with an electrical cord and burned its body because the dog chewed on her Bible.

Animal control officers said Monday that 65-year-old Miriam Smith told them she killed a female dog named Diamond because it was a "devil dog" and she worried it could harm neighborhood children. Authorities said bond wasn't immediately set for Smith, who remains jailed in Spartanburg County after her weekend arrest.

Officials said she didn't have an attorney yet.

She faces 180 days to five years in prison if convicted.

Authorities say the remains of the dog were found under a pile of grass with part of an electrical cord around its neck.

If this Dog had eaten the Koran, the woman would be set free and the owner of the dog and the dog would have been stoned. This is the folly of Religion and its blind spots.
Muslims have the least tolerance and understanding of DOGS. Unfortunately, Miriam the Christian acted just like a Muslim by killing the Dog, but unlike the Muslim she spared the dog owner. Her name rings musical notes in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This is a very significant event.

Something peculiar and very metaphysical has happened.
While MIRIAM Smith may have lacked an understanding of the metaphysical code and be punished for the torture and murder of a Dog, the issues that need be examined are (i) the management of human emotions and temperament (ii) the respect we give to Dogs and the value we assign to religion. Everyone would be upset that a dog ate our favorite books, and the religiously extra-sensitive (insensitive) may hang the dog for dishonoring God. And yet God and Dog may be ONE with MAN. Man, whether intelligent or not, stands between Dog and God. Physically, a Dog stands with Four Legs,a Man stands with Two Legs and God stands with Zero legs ( 4-2-0).

Imagine the co-incidence: MIRIAM Smith hangs a dog and calls her (him) evil. Far away in Afghanistan, a British soldier and military bomb locator dog-keeper dies on duty. His dog then has a heart attack and joins the soldier to heaven. Both receive military honors.

What do the two stories point to?? The relationship between Man, God, Religion, Wars, Intellect and Peace. Man does not fully know God or Dogs. If we did, we would not make bombs or go to War. Nor would we torture or hang dogs. The Dog is probably more spiritual and more godly than Man. Man is in error all the time. Miriam, whose name is Jewish, Christian and Islamic, illustrates the folly and error in our religions.

A dog is just a dog. It has no religion (that we know of), and has no idea what a Bible is. If this lady left her Bible in a place that the dog could get to, what else could she expect? For a dog (or ANY animal), nothing is sacred (forgive the pun!). It's all fair game.

This is what happens when religion comes before belief. If she truly believed, then she would have realized that her Bible, regardless of it's religious conotations, is just a book. She can always get another one, but her nephew is out one faithful friend, and has to carry the image of his friend's demise for the rest of his life.

I so hope that he realizes that what his aunt did is not what a normal person should do, religious or not.
