Monsanto has become the new Marlboro, with a new advertising campaign designed to improve its hopelessly-tarnished image. Except instead of handsome cowboys smoking cigarettes, Monsanto is plastering images of hardy American farmers and their crop fields on billboards and bus stops throughout the nation.

Monsanto's biggest problem is that nobody really needs their GM products or their pesticides. In fact farms do much better without these. This is a company with a collapsing market that only seems to be able to support itself with deceptive advertising and government lobbying. Here's a story about a farm that literally came back to life by going chemical free: http://organicconnectmag.com/wp/2010/12/engelbert-farms-organic-resurrection/

Today, the Obama Administration bowed to pressure from Monsanto and other biotech companies and completely deregulated the use of "Roundup Ready" genetically modified alfalfa, which will have devastating consequences for organic farmers and consumers. In his determination to appear friendly to business, the President has not only broken a campaign promise to protect and promote organics, he has acted contrary to the public interest. The word is "stoops". Even in American English.

I have a couple of friends in the farming business. They are unanimous. Should a Monsanto sales rep turn up they'll release the dogs.

Another huge step for Huffpo by linking to Naturalnews.com. It's one of the best news sources I've ever found. Now if Huffpo can wean itself from linking to all the garbage and propaganda sites we'd be really getting somewhere.

There is no "news" source that is too crazy or outlandish for the HP and this article proves it. HP has proven time and again that selling ad space is much more important than truth or even common sense.

Yes.
Like the recent HuffFaux article that claims the big issue of male favoritism in
healthcare revolves around the availability of "sexual enhancement" drugs for both sexes, when the REAL issue of male favoritism in healthcare revolves around insurance and the fact that insurance covers Viagra for males, but does NOT cover birth control drugs for females.
The key to this HuffFaux journalistic lie is that SEX SELLS
and gender inequality does not.

Why are they doing this?

They already won...

They already got their "Food Safety Bill" (which was proudly endorsed by HuffPost) past.

Thanks so much for the good, hardy laugh-out-live this morning. There seems to be so little to laugh about. Yes, DOW CHEMICAL SPRING WATER ENHANCED WITH NAPALM.

I nave been locked in combat with Monsanto since 1975, and will continue.
That's over 35 years, and I will continue that combat down the line
against this pernicious predator with efforts to get GMOs labeled,
championing small farms and farmers, attempting to alert the citizenry,
and many other activities that promote the highest consciousness.

Americans are so poorly informed about their food
that they constitute the biggest obstacle of all.

Even hose who are not ignorant remain an obstacle by clinging to junk.

I want America back. Am I crazy?
02:44 PM on 01/26/2011
Your talking about the same group of American's who voted against their own interests in the last election cycle. They do not care or want to understand the dangers you speak of. Thier answer is to ban the epa and food rules, that way every one can live in a state of "bliss".

You're not crazy at all.

Keep fighting the good fight -- there are many many excellent, concerned people behind you who's voices are silenced by the media monopolies.

Fanned and faved.

The rBGH dairy is resulting in 7-8 year old girls developing breasts and menstruating. The lobbyists are doing a good job keeping Congress from doing anything about it.

But Monsanto is too big to fail!!!!!!

Monsanto is not helping feed the hungry and finding good, ethical, effective treatments to produce quality crops they are yet another company only concerned with their bottom line.

But their bottom line is based on providing good, ethical, effective treatments to produce quality crops.
