Meetup Everywhere: HuffPost Readers Watch The State Of The Union

Last night, HuffPost joined forces with Meetup.com to facilitate meetups around the State Of The Union address. All across the country, HuffPost readers watched the president's address in groups and sent their reactions to us. It sounds like many of you had a great time, and came up with some interesting conclusions.

Glen McDaniel, of Atlanta Georgia said, of his meetup,

The group had different expectations of the President's speech and most indicated they got what they wanted. Janice, a 35 year old mother, thought the President was very statesmanlike and presidential. She thought he provided the right mix of specifics and a vision for the country. Justin, at 21, the youngest member of the group and a student, wished Obama spoke more about job creation but also said the president had "rediscovered his mojo: just like during the campaign." Justin will graduate in 2 years and fears he will not find a job even though he is studying clinical lab science which is supposedly a high demand area.

Jonas, a 39 year old computer programmer and the one Republican in the group said he was alternatively impressed and impatient depending on the points being made. The consensus was that the speech was positive, forward moving; part cheer-leading, part visionary.
