'Pirates of the Caribbean' Creator Jerry Bruckheimer On Mermaid Boobs

Depp Boobs

This fantasy needed to be all real.

When 'Pirates of the Caribbean' producer Jerry Bruckheimer set out to cast mermaids in the upcoming fourth film, 'On Stranger TIdes,' he had a very specific requirement: they had to be real. Not fins, of course -- but breasts.

In an interview, EW brought up to Bruckheimer about an audition note posted last spring that told actresses with implants not to apply.

"I don't think they had breast augmentation in the 1700s," Bruckheimer told the magazine. "So it's natural for casting people to say, 'We want real people.'"

To play the role of Syrena the Mermaid, whom Jack Sparrow meets on his quest for the Fountain of Youth, the film eventually cast French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey, whom, presumably, is un-enhanced in that area.

PS- they wan t to make it "real" by Making sure no actresses have fake boobs to play the part of a mythological character? OK, so they should just hire actresses with fishtails for feet, then.

Jeez- OK, to make it real:
no women shave their legs or armpits
nobody brushes their teeth
nobody bathes for weeks
and nobody uses toilet paper for the whole shoot.
Throw in some had lice, too.
and make the movie in smell - o vision...

"On Stranger Tides"? Are they adapting the Tim Powers novel into this franchise?

Good ... I hope more industry professionals will follow this lead. Women need to start appreciating themselves for what they are ... not what they can be altered to be and by who? Men ... yep, men just were not happy with the way we originally looked and felt drastic changes were needed.

You know, I've read this article a couple of months ago about how casting agents and producers are actually not looking for people who've had all this augmentation and plastic surgery done. They've made it a condition of casting that people have to have natural bodies for these period films and it makes sense.

Now, if they would just make the requirement an across the board thing...................

I'm really forward to this movie since I learned that it's being adapted from a novel and not an original screenplay written by the people who gave us Pirates 2 and 3.

Also, can't go wrong with Ian McShane.

Oh, on another page there was a recipe for a rum shot & chaser that tastes like a creamsicle. We had some Captain Morgan's rum left over from a pre-Christmas party and tried it tonight.

Here goes:

Prepare 2 shot glasses per imbiber...one with the Cap'n and another with Sprite. Shoot the rum then follow with the Sprite. Aftertaste is Creamsicle. More than 2 is not advisable!

Aren't these Disney films? Very unlikely you'll be seeing any uncovered boobies.

Bare breasts strategically covered with long hair.

It's so ubiquitous it practically requires inclusion in the mythology.

Yeah, I know...still covered though! Doubt if you'd notice fakies, but still good news for non-plastic people!

Never noticed it! (and I'm a woman and have a set of my own, even though one is reconstructed after cancer) Fantasia is wonderful, though and maybe it's about time to view it again. Thank you.

Absolutely. The one thing I expect from my Pirates of the Caribbean movies is realism.
