Drew Rosenhaus: Plaxico Burress Will Be Playing In 2011

Plaxico Returning Drew Rosenhaus

First Posted: 01/27/11 12:18 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:30 PM ET

Talking with Josina Anderson on Showtime's "Inside the NFL," agent Drew Rosenhaus said former Super Bowl champion Plaxico Burress will play in 2011.

"I'm not a big advocate of making predictions on teams because so much can change," Rosenhaus said. "But I am not afraid to make the following prediction: Plaxico Burress will be playing in 2011, and he will play very well. And it will be a very happy ending to a very tough, tough story for him."

After winning the Super Bowl with the New York Giants in 2008, Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh at a nightclub in November that year.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon and was sentenced to two years in prison.

Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk noted that once Burress is out of prison, he is free to sign with any team and "will not face any additional league discipline."

Riddle me this: if you think/know you are more likely to go to jail for an offense than the next guy(read White) would it not behoove you as a "thinking" individual to do nothing that would place you in that position? Also when you have that kind of money why would you even "think" about going into a club that you feel you have to "pack" in?!

Well the Giants and the Bengals are my teams, so if I can't have him at New York, I want him in Cincy....woo hoo....come on Bengals.

Just stay away from the Giants. They turned you in for shooting yourself. I would never trust anyone in that organization.

What happened to Plaxico Burress, and how the criminal justice system treated him, is what Tim Wise be talking about. He shot himself, he was not trying to shot anyone else, the weapon was not illegal, and they tried to destroy this man's life, this is just as bad, as how they did us in slavery.
08:46 PM on 01/27/2011
The weapon was illegal in the city he had it in and he could have just as easily shot someone else. He brought it on himself.
11:51 PM on 01/27/2011
But did he deserve two years? They did try to destroy him!

I could have run over someone with my car on the highway during rush hour but I didn't. You shouldn't be able to prosecute someone for what could have happened.

Amen to that

And how about when Dante Stallworth got no almost no jail time for driving drunk and hitting a guy?

yeah, too bad you can't pick your own penalty for your crime....
Just stop breaking the d*mn law!...No one MADE Buress go into a bar with a gun, shoot himself, then hide the evidence and lie to the Police....All he had to do was NOT BRING HIS GUN!....
Take a little responsibility for your actions, and quit looking to blame Police and the gov all the d*mn time!

Note to self:
Don't be an idi0t and bring a gun to a nightclub while wearing sweatpants. I may become a convicted criminal.

Plaxico...you are a waste of oxygen

If Burress plays next year, it will be in Canada. The greed of the owners virtually assure there won't be an NFL season next year.

I hope someone signs Plaxico as soon as they are able. Just so I don't have to listen to Drew Rosenhaus. I still remember him holding court in T.O.'s driveway several years back.

It sucks to be black in America. Tom Brady wouldn't have spent an hour in jail.
06:40 PM on 01/27/2011
If Tom Brady was stupid enough to bring a loaded gun into the club and shoot himself, he would be in the same legal trouble.
There's plenty of racism in this country but, c'mon. You make it sound like he didn't break the law.

He did break the law but jail, real jail time?? Come on. You have got to admit there is a disparity in sentencing of black men in this country.
08:47 PM on 01/27/2011
It would have really sucked if that bullet had found it's way into someone else's skull.
