Friday Night Stand Up Sneak Peak: Sheng Wang On High Shopping (VIDEO)

This week Taiwanese-American Texan comedian Sheng Wang takes the stage and talks about a subject many Americans are familiar with: smoking pot. When Wang partakes, he likes to give himself small tasks to achieve, like going grocery shopping:

"Suddenly it's a lot more challenging than usual, and you're wandering around this now-unfamiliar territory. You cant help but feel like a hunter-gatherer... that's having the best day of his life! Jackpot!"

Did that ONCE without a shopping list and needed food at the house REALLY bad. I was so overwhelmed by all the choices that after being in the grocery store for an hour and a half, I left with just a Snickers bar. : |

I didn't find him funny. What was interesting was the name and the black southern berotone voice. There was once a very funny korean cowboy comedian from Oklahoma or Tennessee, I can't remember his name who was hilarious.

I like this guy. Reminds me of a poetry slamfest (dvd) where the "Asian dude" said this hilarious poem called "when I get the money"

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't George Carlin do this joke about 30 years ago already? I'm pretty sure he did a joke about going grocery shopping when you're hungry and high.

do you actually think part of being a stand up comedian is watching old stand up routines by other people to be sure you are not using a similar joke by mistake? I find George Carlin to be not funny and somewhat offensive, and so I don't care if this guy has a similar joke. If he makes it better, and he knew George did it before, than good for him.
My best adventures in shopping is being high with a friend at the grocery store. I think that's a common activity, since in America, there are few places that are open all night, and so if you are stoned at 3 in the morning, you only have a few options if you choose to leave the house in your sponge bob pajama bottoms and dirty sweat shirt.
Either you go to Denny's/24 hour drivethrus/diners, the grocery store (that is open 24 hours), 7-11 (if you don't have a grocery store that is open 24 hours) and getting kicked out of a public park for jumping off of the swing set after the sun went down, (a big no-no, got kicked out of my local playground twice for that reason). If there are any other out of home activities for stoners at odd hours, I don't know them, but maybe I should.

Back in '78, yeah I know , my girlfriend and I attempted Christimas shopping at the local mall. The crap we bought! I still feel guilty about! I do remember having fun though. I will deny everything however.
