Sarah Palin will speak at West Hills College in Lemoore, Calif. this May, reports ABC Local News -- and she'll receive $115,000 to do so.

Despite Palin's high price tag, West Hills President Don Warkentin says that the money has already been made back in ticket sales. According to the Hill, the event has sold out of $25 and $5,000 tickets.

She's going to speak for one hour!
That could be as many as two run-on sentences!

Sarah Palin is now only getting the gigs at the small schools, religious gatherings, special needs children support groups, anti-abortion groups, PTA meetings, Toastmasters breakfasts etc. and she is playing games with the actual fee she is receiving to make herself look really popular. This is a small two year college in a poor area of California. They didn't sell out of $5000 tickets and have $115,000 worth of tickets sold BEFORE the tickets even went on sale--someone is lying and it is either Sarah Palin or the College President but this whole thing isn't true. California residents and the students at this college should be very angry about the lies being told. It is darn hard to have only a seating capacity of 1700 and only have 18 classrooms in the entire college and then believe that they have the money to pay the Queen of Greed a gift of $15,000 over her normal $100,000 speaking fee. If the students at Washington University were smart enough to dis-invite the Queen of Abstinence, the students at this community college should be able to protest and tell Queen Blah Blah that she is not welcome.

Methinks Sarah's "visit" is most likely a li'l fantasy fulfillment for the college's administrators

she would be better off accepting a nickle to be quiet -

It's truly hard to believe anyone would pay Sarah Palin to speak -

she doesn't seem to stop when she is not paid anyway

anyone agree?

I agree, Ed.  I think it just plain silly to see how institutions of higher learning are going for the lowest possible denominator regarding inviting speakers.  Washington University in St. Louis recently invited Bristol to speak on (get this) sexual abstinence for something like $35,000. . . they had to back down after the huge outcry against the invitation.

if she decides to run for president she'll make a such a fool of herself in the first month that the bubble will burst, and the 100,000 dollar gigs will dry up. maybe even the fox news job will be yanked. so- if she's smart enough to realize how bad such an adventure will turn out, she won't run for president. but that's a pretty big if, i guess...

Let's hope she's not speaking on history!

So here is the thing: Sarah Palin can command $115,000 for a single appearance. What other performer can ask for that much money and not come with a band, dancers and several costume changes? Really only a handful can demand fees this large. For all intents and purposes she is an actress. Good advice for any actor would be run for office that will really give a big bump to your performing career.

the last time this happened and the college made the money up from sales of tickets, those funds were taken from what would have gone to other, worthier causes like scholarships and the tickets were purchased by committee members

so let's hope someone finds out the dirt on this and exposes the truth in this scam like the last time it happened -- it'll be another ripoff of the students I'm sure

Before the tickets even went on sale to the public, the college president was on national TV stating that ticket sales had already paid her fee and that the $25 tickets and $5000 tickets were sold out. Lies! He is just covering his butt for making such a foolish decision--her speaking fee is $100,000 but he decides to pay her #115,000? Gotta be a relative of someone like Rebecca Mansour or Palin herself. Check on the internet site--tickets still available at $25.00. This is a two year community college with 18 classrooms, 3200 students, the arena seats 1700 and the economy in California is hurting--so it isn't like the graduates are loaded with money and willing to take risks. They have only ever had one other speaker--Karl Rove, so this tells you about their political leanings. I think the students here have every right to protest and boycott the selection and price of this speaker.

Publicly funded colleges who stage such events should have their funding yanked. Ditto with church groups. They should lose their tax-exempt status.

$5000 tickets? Here's a bit of tax reform: how about making the purchase of these types of things NOT tax refundable? Just put a fishbowl by the door and ask people, on their way out, to pay according to what they feel they learned from listening to her.
