Vera Wang Unveils Affordable Collection For David's Bridal (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 01/29/2011 12:37 pm   Updated: 05/25/2011 6:30 pm

The first images of Vera Wang's White collection for David's Bridal have hit the Interwebs and we'd say "I do!" to nearly every one. And priced from $600 to $1400 (and sized from 0 to 14), the gowns aren't out of reach.

In the "About" section, Vera explains, "Every bride deserves to have great design. I believe the bride knows who she is and how she wants to look and feel on her special day. Every gown I create reflects that respect for other women and how much design means to me."

The White collection will hit stores February 11. But it's not the only collaboration between the designer and the chain -- in November, Wang announced that she'd be moving her bridesmaid business to David's Bridal. Come June, there will be options for all of the girls, set to retail from $150 to $200.

Check out some screenshots of Vera's White line for David's Bridal and tell us what you think.

I think this is a good idea. We all want to wear couture on our wedding day, but not everyone can afford it in this economy. It's not personal it's business.

This is good for wanna be's-but risky for Vera-

Once you lower your price point-you cheapen your brand and lose the ability to stay high end and remain "IN."

True. Next up, she'll be designing for Target. Then JCPenney. It's over!

Those dresses are beautiful. My sister is getting married this summer...until she started showing magazine after magazine, hadn't realized how many different styles of weddding dresses exist. (I'm a "skip the prom", "just get married & be done with it" modern-thug type with no regrets, but I can truly understand the delight and excitement of those who are into it. :o)

I wore Vera Wang on my wedding day in 2007 and didn't have to sell a kidney.

Check out her fabulous bridesmaid dresses. You'd be shocked to know how similar the maids dresses are to the actual wedding dress and a fraction of the cost! After a few custom details and alterations, it was only $600. It was also cheaper because it was a dress from the previous season. God forbid!

I don't know who in their right mind would pay $600 for a bridesmaid dress to be just a maid, but I'll pay $600 for a bridesmaid dress if it's going to be my wedding gown!

What the article neglects to point out is that the dresses in the slide show are all still the expensive $1000+ dresses.

Why make a slide show if there's nothing to see yet?

The price point is $600-$1500. I work at Davids and the gowns are flying off the racks.

The dresses look very nice. I just want to know why HORRID posture is so sexy in these? I mean, especially in a wedding gown picture, why do you want to look defeated, powerless, and strung out? A perfume ad I understand that look.....but weddings? Stand up straight, look elegant! Sheesh.

...bad posture, tell-all & potty mouth are all the rage.

Attractive not.

She looks a little hung over to me. Agree -- the poses are just wrong. And there is no life in her eyes. Yup. Hungover.

I'm so happy to see some styles that aren't strapless. So bored with the strapless bridal gown that has been so ubiquitous for several years now.

I agree! And most women, like myself, are really too fleshy to make strapless look good.

So many times I'd check out the wedding announcements, and every single bride had on a straight strapless. And many of them were quite fleshy :) There would be photo after photo after photo of basically the same dress. If I were a bride and saw that all the other brides were going strapless, I would definitely hunt down something unique. They all looked like they were in a uniform.

Me too! I had the hardest time finding a wedding dress I loved that was not strapless and didn't cost thousands of $$$.

I found the gown of my dreams and it only cost $400, by Alfred Angelo. Indeed, I -was- a princess that day :) My wedding photographer couldn't stop saying how beautiful it was. He sees a lot, so I appreciated the compliment.

I'm surprised I liked most of these. They look good for the price, I've seen similar styles like these by other designers and they are at least 2x the price.
