With two seconds left in regulation and down 59-57, Manhattan needed a miracle to beat Marist. Inbounding the ball from under their own basket, guard Michael Alvarado caught the pass and only had time to take two dribbles. From 55 feet out, Alvarado launched a desperation shot that banked off the backboard and fell through as time expired. Manhattan won 60-59 and improved their overall record to 4-18.
