The Huffington Post   Danny Shea First Posted: 01/31/11 01:33 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:30 PM ET

"NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams will be the first network evening news anchor to broadcast from Cairo.

The Huffington Post has learned that Williams is in the region and will anchor live from Cairo Monday evening. NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel has been the network's primary presence in Egypt as the protests have unfolded.

CBS News says it is working out details to send "Evening News" anchor Katie Couric to the region.*

ABC News says that "This Week" anchor Christiane Amanpour, who anchored live from Cairo Sunday and contributed to all of ABC's weekend newscasts, will continue to lead the network's coverage for all its broadcasts.

Other American news anchors in the region include CNN's Anderson Cooper and CNBC's Erin Burnett.

*Update: CBS News announced Monday afternoon that Couric would anchor the "CBS Evening News" from Cairo beginning Tuesday evening.

Why aren't these anchors putting up this video on their nightly broadcasts? KO would've done it immediately if he were still on the air.

Watch this. I dare you not to tear up.

Youtube has already restricted access to the original video. One mirror has 1.19 million views. There are many, many more mirrors.

Oh, I look forward to brilliant questions from American tv presenters, "What are your favorite American movies?" "Do you watch Jersey Shore?" "Coke or Pepsi?" etc.

Where is Michael Ware we need him? Richard Engel is doing a great job and NBC should be very thankful that they have him

Who cares about the US MSM. We are getting more than enough real time news from Al Jazeera and really don't need them.

NBC is very lucky to have Richard Engle as their major foreign correspondent. I really respect the work he does. I understand the desire of anchors to want to go to major news spots, in order to develop some reporting credibility, but they would be lost without their on-the-ground colleagues like Engle.

Strongly agree. In articles where Al Jazeera is highly praised on this website, all American journalist are loathed on, but there is so much high quality stuff being presented at the moment it frustrates me greatly.
Engel was still in Tunsia after their revolt and was in Egypt by Thursday before the protesting escalated into the international headlines. I haven't been able to catch Amanpour, mainly because she left CNN, but she thrives in these situations and CNN keeps showing it's unrivaled international infrastructure of bureaus, producers, and reporters.

I've been watching these 'Anchors" occasionally and boy are they the talking heads just like they're perceived. Bland safely guarded from rubbing elbows with those they report on.

They all had to wait to get instructions from their bosses on how to slant this to keep the American people from knowing how this is really going. Can't have the people getting ideas, now, can we.

This is progress. Rejection of leadership is very interesting. But got to have leadership soon.

This only indicates Mubarak's trust of the corporate-owned Z-people media in America.

Brian goes there and doesn't know the language or the situation. He looks for Anderson and Anderson doesn't know. They both go to look for Richard Engle , who knows the language, the culture and the situation to get the facts. Engle rolls his eyes and thinks, where's my girlfriend, Rachel. These boyz are so lame.

The dumbing down of America continues. The message is controlled. The REAL revolution will not be televised.
