President Obama is scheduled to visit the Pennsylvania State University on Wednesday, Feb. 2, to focus on energy efficiency. The announcement was made during a White House conference call to media Friday afternoon.

According to Penn State Live, Obama will stop by the main campus at University Park to highlight the work being conducted at the Energy Innovation Hub in Philadelphia. The project, which will receive more than $129 million in federal funds over the next five years, is being lead by Penn State researchers.

Obama recently mentioned the importance of clean energy technology for creating jobs and protecting the planet in his State of the Union address.
In addition to touring the university's labs, StateCollege.com noted that Obama's visit to Penn State will include an invitation-only talk at Rec Hall. Reportedly, he will deliver remarks on clean energy and its role in innovation, job creation, and the future of the United States at 12:15 p.m.

This is the president's first trip back to Penn State since campaigning for the election in 2008.
