Julianne Moore The New Face Of Talbots (PHOTOS, POLL)

Talbots keeps trying to shed its frumpy image, now by enlisting Julianne Moore as the star of its Spring/Summer ad campaign. She was photographed in a greenhouse by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and the advertisements will be debuted in March fashion mags.

Moore replaces Linda Evangelista, who had a brief stint with the label. Talbots' chief creative officer Michael Smaldone told People.com that Moore "exemplifies everything we want as the face of the brand. She's a very active, beautiful, soulful woman." Add "unrecognizable" to the list -- we probably wouldn't have know it was her...would you?

She looks much better here than in the ads she did for Bulgari. I have to say I've been surprised by what I've found at Talbots and have bought quite a few things since last spring. It's not your grandmother's Talbots anymore ...

I try never to talk about how someone looks because I figure they had nothing to do with so it is or isn't their fault.

I just never got what is attractive about Julianne Moore. It's not that she's ugly, but she's not particularly attractive most the time. In photographs she's striking, but we all know how camera can do magical things. When I see her in interviews, live shots or movies, I find her offputting...teeth too short? mouth too small? Cheeks too shallow? I have no idea, I can't put my finger on it other than to say I don't find her attractive unless it's a still shot.

OK, now back to not talking bad about people's looks..... ;-)

i always associated talbots with a fat aunt, but i love that dress she's wearing and the creative direction for the ads seems spot on... PLUS i saw another gorgeous dress in the windows recently. hmmmmm....

She was great in "The kids are all right" - she should have gotten the Oscar nod. Annette was good but Julianne had a better part.

i agree that julianne had a better "part," i liked her character more, but annette's acting was arguably more challenging...she had a more emotional role. both women were excellent though.
