CAPTURED: Convicted Killer Wanted Since 1989

The Hartford Courant reports that a man who disappeared in 1989 while appealing a 60-year prison sentence for fatally shooting a man has been captured, according to law enforcement sources.

Hartford police will have more details soon on the capture of Adam Zachs. He was convicted for a March 1987 shooting death of Peter Carone in West Hartford, Connecticut.

He was convicted in 1988. A website in his name seeking help to catch the fugitive has been updated with the banner: "CAPTURED!!"

Zachs disappeared in June 1989, per the Courant. He was 23 years old at the time of the shooting, the Middletown Press reports.
