Blythe Danner's Worries About Gwyneth Paltrow

Blythe Danner

Gwyneth Paltrow may give life and wellness advice through Goop, but even she still needs help from old mom every once in a while.

Speaking to E! Online, Blythe Danner, who turns 68 on Thursday, recalled a conversation she had with Paltrow about her super busy career.

"We had dinner last night and I said, 'Honey, please, it's great that you multitask, but it's a lot of stress to do that, and I want you to take care of yourself. You've just got to.'"

Paltrow's career certainly has been heating up of late. She starred in 'Country Strong' this winter, just hosted 'Saturday Night Live,' is coming back to 'Glee' for a few episode cameo run and is now scheduled to perform at the Grammys.

She herself has said that being a working mother is hard and has chronicled her stressful days, and has complained of late that the public is unfairly mean to her.

Gywneth is a very talented actress; this however is not news. She would command more respect if she spoke about something outside herself. When I was pregnant with my first child I was given a book of advice written by 6 San Francisco mothers. One was Danielle Steel & the others were wives of (struggling) young Doctors. They all recommended a nanny as an essential to raising a baby, & harped on the topic throughout the book. It was mandatory at least for the first year. It was depressing, galling, so many emotions at such a vulnerable time, painful to feel diminished by another's entitlement. (Later I heard Steel kept 3 homes on her Napa ranch, one for the adults, & one each for the small & medium sized children & was that SF mansion, the home bought from the sugar heiress??.) Reading this, I feel the same, but now I am worrying about this lump, & how to deal with no insurance. I achieved a lot over the years, but managed to be defrauded of so much, but only those with the $$$$$$$$$$ can defend themselves in this culture. Work to effect a change Gywneth, then your words might not offend so many.

Just a mom being a mom. I miss my mom, she'd tell me the same thing.

it's nice that she is concerned about her daughter. Other than that, Gwyneth is just incredibly boring and over exposed .

With all the American woman, daughter, mother, worker has to cope with during these rough times, reading about Blythe and Gweneth just seems so wasteful and unimportant.

Blythe, you should really worry most about dear Gwyneth putting a garden hose up her keister all the time--very unhealthy! Where did she get that? what happened to her when she was little?

She could also cut down on her exercise regime, according to her trainere, and save 20 plus hours a week!

Like mother, like Danner, err, I mean daughter. Now we see where Paltrow gets her clueless elitism.

How is it the vast majority of women in America work 5 days a week; don’t have the luxury of nannies; maids; house mangers; personal assistants; chauffeurs; personal trainers; personal chefs; stylists; gardeners; and personal accountants, yet manage to raise wonderful families; stay healthy; and lead happy productive lives?

Sad commentary on Danner that she can’t raise a competent/capable daughter despite all the luxury and vast resources.

Blythe gave up her very promising career to be a full time mom when she had kids. She didn't even try to juggle stardom and parenthood. Of course she was lucky that she didn't have to work. But come on, none of these hollywood stars "HAS" to work. Look at Angelina, admired around the world, with many, many nannies raising the kids. I have more respect for Blythe than for Angelina or Gwyneth for that matter.

Poor, poor Gwynnie. A husband, a son and daughter, an Oscar, a fairy tale upbringing...being a Hollywood princess just isn't what it's cracked up to be.
