Anderson Cooper In Egypt: 'I'm A Little Bit Scared' (VIDEO)

Anderson Cooper Egypt

After two straight days of being attacked on the streets of Cairo, Anderson Cooper brought viewers his Thursday show from an undisclosed, dimly lit room, saying that he was "a little bit scared" for his safety.

Cooper was punched repeatedly and attacked for minutes by a mob of supporters of President Hosni Mubarak on Wednesday. On Thursday, another group of pro-government forces smashed a rock through his car window while he and his crew were in it. Cooper had been reporting from the Cairo streets, but by Thursday night he had gone to ground.

"I can't tell you where we are, frankly for our own safety," Cooper said. "Systematically, we have seen journalists attacked...we would like to be showing you instead of...this strange image of us sitting on the floor of an undisclosed location in dim lighting, we would like to be showing you pictures, live pictures, of what's happening in Liberation Square right now, but we can't do that because our cameras have systematically been taken down through threats, through intimidation, through actual physical attacks."

He continued, "I don't mind telling you I am a little bit scared, because we frankly don't really know what the next few hours will hold. And I think there's a lot of people who are scared tonight in Egypt."

Momma's little baby. You should have dyed your hair and spent a few hours in the tanning bed before you went over there. You sort of stand out in an Egyptian crowd.

He has so many hours to fill on CNN that we sometimes see a pretty fluffy version of ANdersonCooper, but I have seen him pin Michele Bachman when she "reported" her imagined price tag of President Obamas' trip to India, and also the Congressman who lately used a Nazi metaphor. I admire his courage and straight forward reporting and Im glad he wasnt hurt badly.

I love the silver fox of CNN but I have a question. How is it that NBC's news staff was able to snag that sweet balcony location and keep reporting throughout the height of the pro-government backlash complete with 3 point lighting and 2 cameras -- including a wide shot on the museum the whole time? Why did know one have Cooper's back like that?

This is no time for the King's English or fancy reporting. This revolution refuses to go on television. So get out of there. The beef is not exactly with you.

To all journalists:

Take heed! Why go to the side of the dictator mobs and try your fancy reporting? Go to where the revolution is and try covering the people. They want and need the exposure.

Because they want to be objective? Which is part of what a journalist should be?

I think he is being very honest. He has seen so much through out his years of reporting, more than some will ever in their entire life. It is a scary situation in Egypt, and I think anyone would describe it that way. I feel for all the people and I pray that the situation will get better!

What has he saw? He is not a journalist. He is Gloria Vanderbilt's son and he has never had to do anything on his own. What job did he have before he suddenly was on the T.V.? One day there he was. Did he come up through the ramks?

Worldwide msm did good work on this and I'm glad they are united in understanding the difference between those standing up for freedom, vs those who are paid thugs.

Please keep up the good work. The World needs you.

Thanks
