Glenn Beck Stands By Egypt Caliphate Conspiracy Theory: 'I'm Not Wrong' (AUDIO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/04/11 08:39 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:30 PM ET

Glenn Beck

After being derided and charged with trafficking in wild conspiracy theories, Glenn Beck redoubled his warnings that the uprisings in Egypt could lead to an Islamic caliphate spreading across the Middle East on his radio show Thursday.

Beck has come under criticism for his doomsday vision of the potential fallout from the Egyptian revolution. He has warned that the world is "being divvied up" by the "uber left" and the "Islamicists," and that what was formerly "Ancient Babylon" could emerge as the new seat of "evil" and center of the new caliphate.

On his radio show, Beck struck back at his critics. "When I say that there's a caliphate, that it is a desire of the Islamic extremists in the Middle East, that is not a conspiracy theory," he said. "They want a caliphate. Look it up...so don't talk to me about crazy conspiracy theories."

He then issued, as he put it, a warning. "I plant my flag in this soil," he said. "If I'm wrong, so be it. So be it. Then I am wrong. And you can discredit me all you want for the end of time. But I'm telling you I'm not wrong on this one."

Beck continued, laying out three things he said he knew to be true:

"1. Groups from the hardcore socialist and Communist left and extreme Islam will work together because they are both a common enemy of Israel and the Jew.

2. Groups from the hardcore socialist and Communist left and extreme Islam will work together because they are the common enemy of capitalism and the western way of life.

3. Groups from the hardcore socialist and Communist left and extreme Islam will work to overturn relatively stable countries, because, in the status quo, they are both ostracized from power."

"Islam wants a caliphate. Communists want a Communist, new world order. They'll work together, and they'll destabilize, because they both want chaos, period."

Creability of most comments non-existent.. are there any writers(American Born) who have lived in the middle east? Who has read the english "Koran" translation of Abdulla Yousef f Ali.Have you lived for some years with the brothers? Americans do not understand what surrender to a theology is. Having complete faith in anything is rare. The Muslim thinks in terms of a thousand years and evolving success. The middle east,90 %,though many inactive but in agreement, hate the great and little satan and want the caliphate and your head on the roadway.

What a nut cracker!!! If there are people that desire instability it is the WEST! Then they can come by and bring their democracy to their region and SAVE the people by then robbing them off of their natural goods. What democracy does Iraq have now?? Afghan? Egypt?

It as if saying that only the people with principles, whatever they might be, not justifying, but those that will not bow to western capitalistic/stealing tactics of life, they are labelled as evil?

Typical for the Huffington Post not to do their homework. Hasn't any of your crack pot staff actually read the charter document of the Muslim Brotherhood on their plans for the U.S? They want to take over the U.S. with Islamic law slowly infiltrating through our government and building community centers designed to promote unity. The community centers will be a central point for their operations. Look it up. It spells it out in black and white. In both English and Arabic. Hasn't your highly efficient reporters read or actually listened to the Imans who openly speak of reclaiming Islamic territory throughout the Middle East up through Spain? The mysterious caliphate that seems to bother your report is simply a government run by a spiritual Islamic leader - cleric or Iman. In their own words, they are trying to reclaim the Ottoman Empire. Is your staff that blind to what the Charter in Palestine says about Israel? Once Israel is taken over - then the Middle East will be totally Islamic. So, who is calling who crazy? The one who keeps his eyes and ears open, or the one who lives in denial and dismisses what they see and hear?

Those people are not like us.....they don't believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins or anything to do with the Bible. Glenn Beck is aware of this.

The Islamic brotherhood and the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak doesn't really mean anything significant. And I am very much aware of the fears brought on by Mubarak and the possibility of the Ottoman Restoration....but guess what? Turkey is not likely to regain the Ottoman Empire because NATO and the Russians will not allow them to and Turkey's military and economic clout is limited compared to Russia, Germany, France, UK and the US. (And if you're going to infer to the Balkan conflict, Kosovo's Independence from the Serbs has very little to do with Ottoman restorationism and more to do with the US and EU wresting resources and oil pipeline routes away from the pro-Russian Serbs).

Glenn Beck is mainly a spazoid fear mongerer who tries to connect ideas, regardless of their relevance towards each other. He may at least read up on both history and current events (which I give him credit for), but he often forms wrong conclusions. The Anti-Mubarak uprising in Egypt has almost nothing to do with Irish protests against their banking system (which led to their economic collapse a few months ago) and the Ottoman Empire will not return anytime soon, because NATO and Russia will simply not allow it.

How is it that we can see that the signs of nature, yet be so blinded to the signs of our own fellow men? You can't possibly be serious when you said it -"doesn't really mean anything significant"- the Muslim Brotherhood and their influence in Egypt? Make the connections, friend. Read the Muslim Brotherhood's own manifesto of how they systematically want to take over the U.S.and the globally. This document was written in the early part of 1990. (http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/case_docs/445.pdf). Look in particular at pages 18-21. Read #6 of outlined as -"the role and the nature of work"-, it says quote: -"Supporting the establishment of the global Islamic State wherever it is"-. In this document, they specifically outline the organization of a settlement and not one that is simply fleeting, but well rooted. It calls for mosque centers in every city of the U.S.. Look, I'm not opposed to the building of mosques, temples or churches, as places of worship. But, to use a mosque specifically as an "axis" to their movement, as a "base for their rise", to quote their own words..........ummmm, that smells of a takeover and not of an evangelistic movement. What peaceful group states; that it's quote - "a grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within"-? Yep, they sound like real boy scouts.

Finally, taking my prior post and connect the dots. How far fetched is the idea of regaining their lost empire?. Don't get stuck on the word Ottoman. Call it what you want. How coincidental is it that a Spanish newspaper recently cited a poll of muslim immigration into Spain, saying quote; -"Critics say the rate of Muslim immigration to Spain now far exceeds the rate of assimilation. And polls seem to support that claim………Nearly 70 percent of Spanish Muslims identify themselves primarily as Muslim rather than as Spanish. This level of Muslim identification in Spain is similar to that in Pakistan, Nigeria, and Jordan, and even higher than levels in Egypt, Turkey, and Indonesia."- It sounds like the slow, systematic process of establishing a root or stronghold in a country, namely Spain and building a settlement which is being played out there too. And if that is so, then it makes sense that they would follow the manifesto steps to accomplish their goal of establishing Islam as central force in the country.

A classic exactly of Beck saying whatever he thinks will give his audience un petit mort.

If he actually believes in this though, then all the better because eventually he'll do something that'll get him taken off the air, either by upsetting his audience or pissing off his employers.

I came here for diverse opinion and find that because I have listened to GB I am a hillbilly,ape-like ,stupid person. Your world is exclusive and doesn't invite opinion outside of your own. Be well and happy happy thoughts, San-Angelous!
04:12 AM on 02/09/2011
What are you complaining about? You got your diverse opinion. You certainly are not getting diverse views expressed on Fox. So you came to this site and learned that a large part of the educated adult population find GB to be idiotic. You want more diversity? Ok, he's dangerous also. How's that? You're welcome.

Zing! I guess to baru, "diverse opinion" means "people who think like I do".
