LOS ANGELES — Jamie Oliver won't be cooking another course of his reality TV show in Los Angeles schools. The filming permit for the celebrity chef's ABC series "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution" was terminated this week, said Los Angeles Unified School District spokesman Robert Alaniz. He said Oliver had been filming for two weeks at one school but the decision was made to ban him from others because he failed to submit a proposal about his plans to officials.

A spokeswoman for the network said production on "Food Revolution" would continue.

The first season of the show featured Oliver attempting to revolutionize the eating habits and food policies of Huntington, W. Va.

How absurd. JO is trying to save this generation of children for a life of obesity and ill health.

I applaud his good works!

If Jamie Oliver could come on board to prepare healthy meals for Los Angeles schoolchildren, I wonder if he could do it on the LAUSD budget of 77 cents per serving, while buying his ingredients from the approved vendors?

The problem is that we have become a nation of lawyer driven, paranoid, money grubbing, selfish autonomous individuals. The nature of the beast is that laws had to be made to protect "privacy" to the extent that a cooking show cannot be made in a school lest some precious appears on the TV without permission or without the opportunity for an avoricious grab at any money that might be made from that opportunity!
Jamie would have to fill in paperwork that would take longer than it would take to make the show. It probably wasn't worth the hassle!
The whole community losses out because of the very rules made to protect the individual. Go figure!

LAUSD despises anyone or anything that has quality. It's as if these educrats wearing hermes ties enjoy depriving certain students of their integrity. and a decent meal. take it as a compliment, mr. oliver. we appreciate your efforts to provide kids in our community with a chance to taste the good life white collar crime has stolen from too many lost angels.

The scary lunch lady at my school back in the day (aka Large Marge) would have had Jamie on the menu.

of course the state doesn't want to pay more for foods that are healthier, than they wouldn't make any money through the medicaid/medicaire govt funded programs! what are you thinking jaime? it's more expensive to keep our children alive an living longer lives than diabetic, Heart disease, high Cholesterol, Kidney Disease, etc. That's the quickest way to get rid of our population and put more money in our Governors, senators wallets dude!

Come to Montebello Jamie, we are just outside of East LA. Technically we are still Los Angeles County, and we have our own district.

Unlike teachers, who buy supplies out-of-pocket and help needy kids after school, the cafeteria workers don't move an inch and follow their union rules to the letter. Jamie probably wanted them to actually give the kids real food, which is just too much work. OR WORSE, Jamie requested ingredients that are supposed to be given to the kids but actually get taken home by employees. I've always wanted to ask, why is there never toilet paper or towels in the school bathrooms? Where did it go?

It's dumbfounding how stupid and ignorant we have become as a society that we will go so far as to prevent someone for demanding GOOD food for our children in school. This is reprehensible.

But sadly not surprising.

I guess they were afraid of his revolution... I'm not suprised, the amount of nutrition (actually lack thereof) in public school food is both astounding and sickening. Good nutrition is crucial to a healthy lifestyle and our schools are failing to teach this well just as much as the academic subjects..... one half year of health class cannot counteract 12 years of school lunch french fries...

Oh HP, he wasn't "banned" from the schools; his permit was terminated. Argh sloppy work yet again.

LA Schools are scared about the publicity. It's not like Jamie is an unknown or his concepts are not mysterious. It's that LA Schools are looking for a way out.

Hey Jamie, Come to Memphis. Feed everyone, not just the kids.
