Speaking styles or grasp of English? They're not the same. I'd certainly lose interest very fast (indeed I wouldn't become interested) in someone who couldn't write properly - spelling, grammar and punctuation.

But my beloved is French and his speaking and writing styles in English are nothing like mine. Thirty years so far ...
