Poll: Obama Beating Romney And Huckabee, Trouncing Palin In Colorado

The latest round of polling in Colorado from Public Policy Polling (PPP) shows President Barack Obama in strong position headed into the 2012 election cycle.

The polling (PDF) shows Obama with a 51% approval rating, compared with just 45% in the state that disapprove of his performance. Before the 2010 elections, PPP calculated Obama's approval/disapproval at 41%/53%.

The survey also asked preferences in hypothetical 2012 general election matchups between the President and likely Republican nominees.

PPP found Obama with a 47-41 lead over former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, a 51-42 lead over former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and a 55-36 lead over former Alaska Governor and Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

In 2008, Obama carried the state of Colorado 53.5% to 44.9%.

"Right now, President Obama looks just as strong in the states he won last time as he did [in 2008]," Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling, said on Tuesday.

The poll surveyed 517 Colorado voters from February 4th to 6th, and has a margin of error of 4.3%.
