Conan Unveils Even More Offensive Groupon Super Bowl Ad (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/08/11 09:58 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:30 PM ET

This year's Super Bowl had its fair share of funny commercials, but one ad campaign did not have people laughing.

Groupon's controversial Tibet commercial did not sit well with people who thought it exploitative, so on Monday night Conan O'Brien injected some humor into the situation.

After cracking off some jokes about Groupon's audacity, Conan unveiled a parody Groupon ad even more offensive than what was shown at the Super Bowl. How offensive? Let's just say it involves the Hindenburg disaster.

Conan continues to be hilarious...
...whenever he shows a clip his staff created or whenever he has a guest and gets out of the guest's way.
Otherwise he's still the luckiest man on the planet.
That includes James Belushi.

The thing is anytime you try to create a funny ad there is a good chance you're going to offend someone because the ad will be making fun of something someone holds dear to their heart. For example a beer commercials innocent enough right? But how many people have lost a loved one to a drunk driver? Get my point.

In this case I think Groupon made have miscalculated on such a touchy subject and in fact I was reading anotehr article http://daytontribune.com/will-groupon-customers-and-business-switch-to-competitors-such-as-customer-advantage/75994/ where they mention the repercussions for Groupon could be people jumping ship to other local deal companies like Customer Advantage.

Stupid for a normal commercial and twice as stupid for a SB commercial.

I'll take their ads over yet another insipid commercial in which they try to make you think animals are people. Animals are NOT people. They're delicious.

Yes, and she's a "member since Jan 2011". Maybe the account was started when the commercial was delivered to Fox? Shameless, doing more harm than good.

You're not even good at your job. Account created just before the SuperBowl, no fans, and writing in a voice devoid of authenticity.

Slink back to Groupon and notify your managers you should be fired.

And you people will be fighting some pointless cause (not Tibet, this commercial before you try to twist my words like all of you do) on here in two days when you have forgotten about this, other than that, groupons are awesome! I got 50 bucks off a bunch of clothes at american apparel (it's good that their clothes are tight, I have big muscles)

These people turned down a huge mega-offer for their organization which markets a not-so-unique product. Obviously something's in the executive water fountain that turns them into complete idiots. My reaction what "why am I doing business with these guys?"

Go, Conan. Next we may have: The Titanic sunk very quickly, but not as fast as your restaurant tab when you join Croup-On.

The groupon ad at the beginning is a real ad? and they played that in an ad making fun how offensive the other one is?
this article is hilarious XD

Conan's parody is less offensive than the actual Groupon ad running with this clip.

I liked his take on the Obama-O'Reilly Superbowl interview myself. Very funny stuff.
