Last year at Lolla, Gordon Elliot did the food and it was amazing. Lobster corn dogs!

Lollapalooza is one of the best executed fests of all time. The music is great, the production is great. The food is great. But the best part, by far, is the location. As the sun sets on the Chicago skyline, with great music, it's really quite something. I always have an incredible time. I do all three days, every year.

Hell, as long as 30stm and Muse are there i'm going. i don't need anyone to tell me if it's "real music" or not. If other people don't like them then too freaking bad

Lameapalooza. The rumored lineup looks more like it belongs in the 90s. I guess it would be cool for people still living in the past.

That doesn't make ant sense.

Muse? Lollapalooza is one of the best places to hear new musicians. Every year I hear someone new who I love.

I would have liked to see Tool, was that last year, but man did they want a lot of money. Looking at the lineup for this year, heck, I wouldn't cross the street to see it.

It was 2 years ago and you missed one h**l of a show! Nothing like hearing 46 and 2 echoing off the Chicago skyline with the entire audience singing along.

It was the 5th time I've seen them and it was by far the best. The Summerfest the year before was next in line. I prefer ourside shows though and the others were all inside.

Been to see Tool seven times. Best show of anyone. I kick myself in the backside missing that one in Chicago. Best show was in Albuquerque in 96. Never enjoyed a show more before of since. Open seating is best. Wimps can stay back. Peace.

There are a lot of people complaining that they have never heard of many of these artists. That is part of the point of going to a festival. There are big name artists who draw the crowd (and bring in revenue), but it is an opportunity for many up-and-coming artists to play for these large crowds and get their names out there. Some bands that were not well known before playing festivals include: Dave Matthews Band, Blues Traveller, Spin Doctors, Widespread Panic, Ben Harper, The Black Keys.... the list goes on and on. Check out a festie or 2 this summer and discover your next favorite band that you haven't heard of!

That being said, for your money, there are a lot better festivals out there than the new Lolla. The NOLA Jazzfest in May, All Good in July, Rothbury and Mile High in August, Austin City Limits, Wanee, River Stages, Coachella, Bonnaroo, 10,000 Lakes Festival, FloydFest.... find one close to you that you see a few bands that you recognize and check it out.

I dont see the problem

Eminem = great
Muse = great
Foo Fighters = great

I am pretty sure they are headliners and everyone else will just be playing throughout the venue.
It's not like a hundred thousand people are all there to see "30 sec to Mars."

Plus you cant beat the view of the city at night with a great band in front of view.

I agree.

While I agree with several posts about Eminem I disagree whole heartedly about "the music's over". Portugal. The Man is the future- out of Wasila, Alaska (thats right!)- absolutely no relation to you know who. They are very very good. Church Mouth is a good album to start.
Muse= excellent, Coachella headliner last year.
Best Coast= excellent
Fitz and The Tantrums= Excellent.

I grew up in the 90's, but music evolves. If you are a fan of The Doors, Led Zeppelin etc, there is no reason why you should shrug off Jane's Addiction or G Love, now classic rock (unless you didn't like them then).

I am in my 30's, no excuse for being left behind. Research the newer acts, you will be happy that you did. Try not to be so cranky, you're missing out.

And at Lolla, there's no moment quite like when Perry takes the stage. Last year he DJed, the year before that, JA. Lolla gives the perfect mix of stuff you love, and exposure to new amazing music.

Didn't Perry Farrell start Lolli??
02:16 PM on 02/09/2011
Yes he did and then gave it up for a few years and then got it back and made it a weekend deal in Grant Park.

Went to Lallapalooza in Tampa in '91.

Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rollins Band, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Ice Cube, Violent Femmes.   I'm too old for the concerts now but I still love the music.
12:15 PM on 02/09/2011
I envy you! Nails, MINISTRY!!!, Henry Rollins, Violet Femmes, The Chili Peppers in '91!!!... Wow. Now that's GREAT music. I'd camp out for reunion tickets with that line up.
09:04 AM on 02/09/2011
ugh...not a line-up worth shelling out $$$ for.

Note to Lollapalooza peeps. Eminem is not what the Palooza is about. The Foo have had their turn. Bring on some Dischord bands, some Kill Rock Star bands, throw up a surprize where you have Robert Plant and his band of Joy play a few songs, and then invite Jimmy Page to come up and play a few songs. Then have Gang of Four blast away some of their new songs and some of their old songs. Then end it with the White Stripes last show together. Eminem? That would be the end of the Polooza.

I love Lolla and I love Enimen so I have no problems with it. I also love Lykke Li so I'm excited to see if she is on the roster this year (she was on the small stage last year as well)

Led Zeppelin is not any more cerebral than Eminem is.

Saw Janes Addiction when they first came out with Nothing Shocking at a small club in Cincinnati and saw them last year (or year before) when they toured with NIN. If I had the money, I would pay to just see them.
Foo Fighters are good, I've heard one song from Fits and the Tantrums which I liked and Crystal Castles has that Euro-Techno / Eectronica beat I like. Wish I could go.

That might be the worst lineup I've seen for a festival in a long time. Yikes!
