thewrap.com:

In an exclusive video interview with TheWrap 36 hours after the media world was shaken by the news that AOL would acquire The Huffington Post for $315 million, Huffington said "absolutely no" to the question of whether AOL content would have a leftist political bent. (See video I, interview continues in second video.)

"Of course not," she said. "AOL is not a political site. AOL has Politics Daily, a section which covers politics, but it's not a political site. I was always clear that HuffPo would not just be a political site. I always wanted it to be an Internet newspaper, covering every aspect of life. "

Let me try this again..Why are previously published comments now disappearing from my home page?  Out of about 10,900 comments I've made, 6902 is now the number of published comments.  Earlier last week that # was about 7040.  I think that number was higher previously.  So, are the previously published comments being now deleted because they were replies to other bloggers who have now deleted their accounts?  Were these replies deleted along with the original posts of other bloggers who have now deleted their accounts?  That's the question..

I have a question.  I've made about 10,800 comments to HuffPo.  Of course, not all mad it through moderation.  My published comments # is now shrinking.  Why is that, I wonder?  aT ONE POINT LAST WEEK MY PUBLISHED COMMENT

I have a question. I've lost about 45 or so fans that deleted their accounts. I understand what has occured in this regard.  I've made about 10,900 comments to the site.  Of course not all comments made it through moderation.  At one point last week, my published comments # was about 7040, now it's about 6900+.  So the question is what is happening to allready published comments that seem to be disappearing now?  Were they replies to other bloggers who have deleted their accounts, and were therefore deleted along with the original posts? Just wonderin....

From the LA Times:

"The bulk of the HP site's content is provided by commentators, who work for nothing other than the opportunity to champion causes or ideas to which they're devoted."

Class action for a piece of the $315 million pie anyone?????

In the end Arianna has proven to be a capilatist!!! There is nothing wrong with that mind you. I don't think Arianna has any intention of being left, right or a centrist. It's all about the money at this point.

So when Huff Po vacates the online space they have owned for the past 5 - 7 years, someone new will fill it. See, as a result of this move by Huff Post a business opportunity arises!!!

Integrate 100%. Provide a cover page with choices that take you to where you can choose.
AOL site is very dated.
Huffpost requires an upgrade.
Please ask users how sites could integrate and be improved.

She could never figure out whether she was right of left. Which ever finger she put up in the wind. She has been on every base...who could take her serious?

The 'liberal' media is a misnomer. Television channels, radio stations, and newspapers are owned by large corporations. Who do you think best serves corporate interests?

Their coverage of issues will be slanted to serve their interests as corporations. This is why large corporations owning large parts of the media isn't good for America.

I find it hypocritical when Huffington spend the last decade railing against corporate malfeasance that she has made a deal with the devil...

Tim Rutten ladies and gentleman…

“The Huffington Post is a brilliantly packaged product with a particular flair for addressing the cultural and entertainment tastes of its overwhelmingly liberal audience. To grasp its business model, though, you need to picture a galley rowed by slaves and commanded by pirates. Given the fact that its founder, Huffington, reportedly will walk away from this acquisition with a personal profit of as much as $100 million, it makes all the Post's raging against Wall Street plutocrats, crony capitalism and the Bush and Obama administrations' insensitivities to the middle class and the unemployed a bit much.”

This is hilarious…

There is an unending amount of conservative sources of media but once something comes along that is even remotely left-leaning there’s a problem. If anyone needed to know the direction this site is going in… now you know. It’s no secret that the AOL community is mostly conservative. So I have no idea what A.H. is talking about.

At least there’s still…

Daily Kos has a fabulous new layout. It looks a lot more like a news journal. Their comments rating system has always worked well. It is a lot more rational and democratic than the moderation that goes on here at HP.
