University Of Florida Swimmers Arrested: Lily Ramirez, Daniela Victoria Caught Shoplifting

College Swimmers Arrested

Two junior swimmers at the University of Florida were arrested on Saturday for shoplifting in Orlando and have been suspended indefinitely by the team, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Lily Ramirez and Daniela Victoria were caught at The Florida Mall by the Orange County Sherriff's Office.

Both face two charges of "misdemeanor petty theft" after admitting to taking a pair of jackets which cost $130 total from Nordstrom's.

Florida swimming coach Gregg Troy released a statement about the arrest:

We are extremely disappointed in the actions of two of our student-athletes this past weekend. Both individuals have been suspended indefinitely, and will miss the 2011 SEC Swimming Championships and beyond. University of Florida student-athletes are held to a high standard of character. This was unquestionably a massive error in judgment, and our program simply cannot and will not tolerate this type of behavior.

The swimmers, who were released from jail, reportedly returned the stolen jackets after "being pulled over by the deputy."
