Annette Bening On Oscars: I'll Vote For Myself For An Academy Award

First Posted: 02/10/11 10:29 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:30 PM ET

She's up for Best Actress, but Annette Bening is pulling no punches about her Oscar vote.

As a four time Academy Award nominee, Bening is a member of the Academy and an Oscar voter. She's up this year for her work in "The Kids Are All Right," and in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, she made clear who would get her vote: herself.

"Absolutely," she said. "You'd have to be a fool."

Bening is buzzed about as a potential spoiler for frontrunner Natalie Portman, star of "Black Swan."

The pair talked more about the Oscars -- no surprise, she feels honored and lucky to be there -- as well as her on-screen children.

I liked "The Kides are All Right" much more on tthe second viewing. Would be happy to see either of them win.

Bening has consistently given steller performances. I really do wish she would win this time. An Oscar to Portman would mean we would have to endure even more breathy, whimpering performances by her. I am not looking forward to this.

Seriously? I mean, seriously?
I do like a lot her performance into "the kids are all right" - she was great and convincing, and the movie was entertaining in its own way. But frankly, I don't think at her as an 'oscar-worth' comedian. When you watch Portman or Firth, or even this dude in "the social network", those are really Acting, with a capital A. Can't you feel the difference between a Actor and a mere comedian, or between a nice, entertaining movie like "kids are all right" and a oscarisable movie? That honestly puzzles me.
Plus, very elegant and fair-play to vote for herself. Frankly low.

Benning is a fantastic actress and a class act.

No. No emotional depth and is emotionally unaccessible as an actress.

Way, way overrated.

I disagree. She is very charming and yet she manages to break that and show another side of herself.

Benning was fantastic in "The Kids are Alright..." She deserves it.

Well, what kind of a dumb question is that? Of course she will.

Lame.

She was my front runner until I saw Black Swan. That doesn't take away from her performance though. She was brilliant.

She made my happy area recede up into my abdomen while watching The Kids are Alright. Give her the Oscar.

I vote "NO" on her next face lift.

It is so obvious by her jawline she never has. Not exactly your circle, eh?

Of course she would vote for herself. It's like asking a politician if they are going to vote for their opponnent!
