Favorite Valentine's/Curse Card EVER... spotted back in the 80's in L.A., I think:

I like #3 - "I hope you are as ready to confuse our sexual chemistry for love as I am." Except that people are rarely conscious of the fact that that is what they are doing. Or as is often the case, one person is quite clear and content that it's just sexual chemistry, and the other one confuses it for love and ultimately gets their heart broken.

I was happy dating a guy last year until he sent me a free email valentine's card. No chocolates, no flowers, couldn't even drive the 50 miles to take me out to dinner. His cheapness and cluelessness spelled the beginning of the end of the "romance" on my end.

My advice to guys who care about whom they are dating ...it's fun to send to send an easy and free email valentine card. But if you don't supplement the gesture with something that requires a little effort...you run the risk of being dismissed as tacky, cheap and uncaring.

Ha! I can top the one about asking to borrow money for a special Valentine's Day.

The only time I was dating anyone on Valentine's Day, I had arranged my 9-hour, transatlantic flight so that I would arrive that day. Not only did he say that he didn't have enough money to come pick me up from the airport AND take me out, he wanted me to make the 2.5-hour bus trip to where he lived so that he could then pick me up from the bus stop and take me for the Valentine's Day special at the restaurant that was within walking distance of his house (and not a restaurant that I liked very much). On the walk there, he confessed that he was 10 euros short.

In retrospect, I would LOVE to say that I dumped him then and there, but we all do dumb things when we're young and jet-lagged...
