Ars Technica:

[A] new report suggests that nations are slowly turning ISPs into the off-duty information cops of the world. Eager to placate politicians in order to achieve their own goals (like the selective throttling of data), networks are cooperating with governments looking for easy, informal solutions to difficult problems like copyright infringement, dangerous speech, online vice, and child pornography.

US, as the owner of the basic backbone of Internet, is in the BEST position to do some "form" of Internet control."

The ten largest are fortunately not in the US or China, so there is hope.

Clearly, Wikileaks has proven what we all knew, that our information is spoon fed to us. Their example also proves that our free country monitors everything, the banks stand ready to shut funds off to whatever they wish to controll or have controlled, and that world governments including ours, have no tolerance for a populace that knows what is truly going on.

Things like China blocking search engines, Egypt turning off the internet and bankers shutting down wikileaks during these times when actual printed words (newspapers) are few and far between is a telling sign of things to come. Truth in media is now more obscure than it has ever been!

Censorship controlls to monitor adult content do nothing but placate lazy parents and extend the ever watchful eyes of a thieving and controlling government.

We must not rely on electronic media for truth. Scammers use the internet effectively and governments, including ours, are the biggest scammers out there. We must educate ourselves and stop depending on a lying government to protect us. Our protection is not part of their intent because we no longer own our government. Business owns our government and business cares only about seperating you from your funds and then sweeping you out the door when you are broke.

DO NOT BE DECEIVED.
US, China, etc. THEY ALL CENSOR THE INTERNET. US, as the owner of the basic backbone of Internet, is in the BEST position to do some "form" of Internet control. Countries use all alibis to control the internet --- national security, anarchy, terrorism, child pornography, religious fundamentalism, etc., etc.

governments never learn.   can't suppress the voice of the people - we'll always find a way to be heard,  stand against tyranny, bring down oppressors

It is not just governments. It is the corporate élites who oppress. They use governments as tools to exercise power over people. That should be obvious to you.
