O.J. Simpson Beaten In Prison Attack: Report [UPDATE: Prison Denies Claim]

UPDATE: According to USA Today, a prison official said that the National Enquirer's report about O.J. Simpson being attacked is "totally bogus." Steve Suwe, the public information officer for the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada, denied the claims in an interview with Game On!

The National Enquirer reported on Tuesday that O.J. Simpson was attacked in the Nevada prison and beaten unconscious. The paper said he spent three weeks in the infirmary:

Inmates cheered as a muscular young skinhead knocked him to the ground, punching and kicking him to a bloody pulp and inflicting injuries so severe he secretly spent nearly three weeks in the infirmary before he recovered.

According to the report, prison authorities have "done their best" to keep the beating a secret and Simpson is now afraid to leave his cell.

The 63-year-old has reportedly been a "marked man" in prison "ever since white supremacists overheard him brag about his sexual conquests of beautiful white women."

Simpson's former business partner, Bruce Fromong, told the paper: "Unfortunately for O.J., a group of young skinhead punks were within earshot - and they were enraged."

Shouldn't Mr. Simpson be away from the general prison population--due to his celebrity and rather volatile status ? Also isn't Mr. Simpson a senior citizen and are they generally contained with younger prisoners?

Why is OJ in jail for taking back his own property? Big banks are doing it right now in the housing markets. Better yet why did this even go to trial consider the lack of credibility of this accusers and witnesses? Isn't justice supposed to be blind? No matter what the man has done in the past we look at the events now.

Granted drama has a penchant of following the juice around.

The National Enquirer might do well when it comes to sex scandals, but their method of running with hearsay fails with something that's so easily checked. As bad as our prison-industrial complex has become, this isn't China. Prison management is sufficiently transparent that O.J.'s condition can be found out by any reporter willing to do the legwork. Go visit him, for example; it's not like he's in solitary. Or talk to his lawyer; if O.J. had been beaten, you can damn well bet that his lawyer would be screaming from the rooftops about it.

I say it's a lie. If a man (black or white) gets beaten up in prison for racial issues, it becomes an issue for the whole Yard, with the different races defending their own. If OJ got beat up by white supremacists for bragging about being with white women, there would have been a race riot right afterwards.

Very interesting, I'll look into that. Even though I think he is guilty, I'm not one to never change my views on something once new evidence comes to light. I'll make my own judgments though :)
